Judging a book by its cover

by

I first learned of Spice & Wolf Vol. 1 when I noticed it was one of only two manga that was shrink wrapped at my local bookstore. This caught my attention, as the only other one was a rather... interesting manga. The cover and description didn't tell me why it was wrapped, so I picked it up out of curiosity. It’s become possibly my favorite series.

The characters are well written, everyone has believable motivations, and there's no central "villain". They're all out for themselves, and watching Kraft and Holo both succeed and fail along their journey is both interesting and surprisingly tense. Simple trade deals are given far-reaching consequences that stretch between volumes, and watching events unfold throughout was extremely fun.

Spice & Wolf is a well-written and drawn tale, and I'd recommend it to just about anyone, especially those who are looking for a believable romance between two disparate characters, and their various adventures.

Watch the anime then this is a good additon to your collcetion

The first time I was introduced to this series was with the anime. From there I decided to give the story a chance but since I'm not that into novels because its hard to focus I decided with what the manga version and I have to say I am hooked. I can't get enough of it. I'm always looking forward to the next installment of the manga version.
