Meiko Inoue is a recent college grad working as an office lady in a job she hates. Her boyfriend Shigeo is permanently crashing at her apartment since his job as a freelance illustrator doesn't pay enough for rent. Straddling the line between her years as a student and the rest of her life, Meiko struggles with the feeling that she's just not cut out to be a part of the real world.

Very relatable, young adult problems

by

This is probably one of Asano Inio's more down-to-earth series, second up being "What a Wonderful World!" which I also recommend.

The story is your basic "twenty-something having troubles adjusting to adult life" story, but it's executed quite well. Dull office life is mixed with dreams of continuing to pursue music and strung together with almost episodic moments of daily life. In comparison to "What a wonderful World," Inio's art has definitely improved, with details of the city expressed very unabashedly, showing areas of both beauty, dinginess, and everything in-between.

It's a series anyone can relate to regardless of age, and the book itself is pretty hefty (400+ pages), though held together with a nice matted cover.

Inio Asano truly captures what it is he is trying to tell, and the level of depth with which he uses to demonstrate his ideas is masterful. The volume itself is also well made, and sure to last and look good on any shelf. This is definitely a series you want whether you're someone who likes to collect, or just someone who's a casual reader. This is a must-read, must-own for anyone looking for a great slice-of-life, psychological story. Certainly, a modern classic.
