Very relatable, young adult problems

by

This is probably one of Asano Inio's more down-to-earth series, second up being "What a Wonderful World!" which I also recommend.

The story is your basic "twenty-something having troubles adjusting to adult life" story, but it's executed quite well. Dull office life is mixed with dreams of continuing to pursue music and strung together with almost episodic moments of daily life. In comparison to "What a wonderful World," Inio's art has definitely improved, with details of the city expressed very unabashedly, showing areas of both beauty, dinginess, and everything in-between.

It's a series anyone can relate to regardless of age, and the book itself is pretty hefty (400+ pages), though held together with a nice matted cover.

Solanin is truly a masterpiece crafted by Inio Asano. This single omnibus tells a fantastic story that anyone will find entertaining or eye-opening. The art is just as good as the story, and the incredible level of detail is awing. Viz Media has also done a great job with this review, and the book itself is very high quality. Overall, if you're a reader this is certainly a series you should check out, and if you're a collector this would absolutely look great on your shelf. I would highly recommend this series to anyone.

Inio Asano, along with his fantastically real art, has created a mesmerizing story that is sure to impact you. Inio Asano truly captures what it is he is trying to tell, and the level of depth with which he uses to demonstrate his ideas is masterful. The volume itself is also well made, and sure to last and look good on any shelf. This is definitely a series you want whether you're someone who likes to collect, or just someone who's a casual reader. This is a must-read, must-own for anyone looking for a great slice-of-life, psychological story. Certainly, a modern classic.

A Great Inio Asano Oneshot

by -

I just absolutely love Inio Asano's work. Always great art, story, and knows how to pull those heart strings. If you like any of his other work you definitely will enjoy this. ( I'd also say a great first one of his to try )

Also the quality of the physical manga itself is great. This is weird but I really like how the cover feels compared to standard manga.

Great Story

by

A beautiful story that made me step back and appreciate my own life. Amazing artwork and expressions as well that makes me spend longer on each page. I also really enjoy the "sig" versions of the viz books as this cover has a nice texture and feels durable.
