Survival Reincarnation

by -

This is a "survival" story (think Hatchet), which plays well with the gimmick of having the protagonist be reincarnated as a weak spider monster.

Since she's weak, she has to plan ahead and be creative in using her spider abilities. The book is at its best when showing off the many different ways she uses her thread, poison, and more. These sections are a lot of fun. Her commentary is pretty funny too.

Somewhat less fun are the in-between chapters narrated by other characters. These chapters are important for the story, but I wanted to get back to our spider heroine and see what she'd do next. And after the last page, I still am.

This really is a fun read, and I'm looking forward to the next volume.

Worth buying, would buy again

by

If there's a review you should read it may as well be for the first novel of the series, right? So I decided to write a little something here about it.

Reborn into another (game) world. That sums up the premise, you get it, along with learning new skills and using a point skill system to rank up.

What makes it great is the little twist that the main protagonist spawns as a tiny weak spider. One of the lowest tiered enemies there is in this world. Of course there is a little special about her, not to mention that she has a human mind capable of critical thinking (something most monsters lack). I hate to make a reference to the little train that could but it does come to mind. You begin to cheer for her success, hoping that she overcomes the obstacles that she confronts. That's because, unlike a lot of protagonists you see in other stories like this, she is REALLY weak! Her fights are desperate and you get a very human sense from her. Her personality is priceless.

Amazing!

I couldn't ignore this series any longer. I bought it as an experiment and couldn't put it down. It blew my mind. I then ordered 2 at a time till I was caught up in translation. It's pure action and especially interesting for gamers. I'm thrilled an anime announcement was made but that'll never fully capture her inner dialogue found here. This is a must read series.

Much better than I expected

by -

I didn't go into this expecting much, but it was actually pretty good. First person POV like most recent light novels, but very well done for once. It's heavy on the "reborn in an RPG" aspect - this world literally works like an RPG, with stat points and leveling, and the heroine spends most of the book either level grinding or desperately trying to survive (find and kill food, survive attacks by enemies more numerous or powerful than she'd have chosen to go up against, etc.). It was interesting, although occasionally a bit repetitive, but I'm intrigued by the fact that she wasn't the only person reborn in this new world. I definitely plan on reading the next volume.

Survival novel

by

This novel series is very good. It is focused on survival and progression with a cute spider as the protagonist. Unlike its peers, this novel does not just give the protagonist a bunch of ridiculous cheating powers, or a harem. Instead she has to work for everything she has and many things are kept in the dark for her and you the reader. The monsters, stats, skills, and world are fleshed out and very interesting. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy.

Very entertaining

In a crowded Isekai genre, this one stands out. The perspective of the main character as a spider really keeps this book feeling fresh for someone like me who has read many books in the same genre.
After reading half of this book I ended up ordering the next 9 books without hesitation.
