About Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle Manga Volume 1

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle volume 1 features story and art by Kagiji Kumanomata.

A captured princess just wants a good night’s sleep!

Imprisoned in the castle of the Demon King, all that spoiled-sweet Princess Syalis dreams of is a good night’s sleep! Shhh... Kidnapped by the Demon King and imprisoned in his castle, Princess Syalis is...bored. She decides to while away the hours by sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wielder of the Wind. The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from to bad to worse—for her captors—when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely—if temporary—demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading...

Cute Girl Terrorizes Demons

For those who like the standard RPG tropes, this series makes fun of them. The demon king captures the princess as a bargaining chip but tries to balance out the dungeons so that the hero steadily progresses towards rescuing her. The princess is all about having a good nights sleep, cutting up demons to get materials and destroying treasures in order to make ever more comfortable beds. There are continually nods to different tropes from different games even the Clock Tower game with the giant scissors kid. While she is supposed to be a prisoner, she seems to get her way and do what she wants in this goofy RPG fantasy setting.

If you like referential humor and fun character interactions, buy this series! It is also very well priced compared to other series of the same length. If you like RPG action, give this a miss as you will find none here.
