A beautiful box set!
This is a Criterion Collection box set which in and of itself makes it great. It contains a very nice 55 page book. This is well worth the buy for Toshiro Mifune alone. Kurasawa's work is a milestone for any discerning anime fan. Even now, approx. 57 years after it's release, this is an engrossing story. Both the cinematography and story were groundbreaking, not to mention the characters. Artfully done in tandem with great action. A treat from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed this after watching the Samurai 7 anime series. Note: This is a very long film clocking in at 207 minutes. Funny thing was, for me it was over before I knew it.
Seven Samurai slashes onto dvd and blue ray
The Seven Samurai is the best of the best movie that Akira Kurosawa as directed. It has a great story, characters and gifted actors. Did you know that Yul Brenner is the grandson of Akira Kurosawa and later used his grandfathers script and adapted it to the western version of Magnificent Seven. Even George Lucas was inspired by the director on his fast edits and used some samurai action sequence for his Star Wars movies.
