Super fun show

This is a classic. Terrific, fun, with good world building. Definitely recommended

Past Meets Future (or is it Past)

This is one of Funimation's title rescues. This show originally released in Japan in 2003 and then later in the USA by Bandai Entertainment. This re-release retains the original 4:3 video format. On the Blu-ray version the original English audio has been upgraded to True HD and the video appears to be an upscale of the original video. The lines are sharper and the coloring is a bit more vivid.

The series contains 24 episodes and the first half follow the adventures of Pacifica Cassul as she tries to find out why she is known as the Scrapped Princess and referred to as the poison that will destroy the world. In the second half when she discovers the truth the show blends the old classic countrysides with a past that includes science-fiction style technology. The show is cute and funny and very entertaining.

This is also a great buy for fans like me who would like to have more Blu-ray discs in my collection while still having rooms in the house that only have a DVD player.

It's old and it's overlooked. But it's great

It's an older anime, the sound/music and the animation is definitely stylized like the older Fullmetal Alchemist. It focuses more on the dialogue just like the older Fullmetal as well so the flow comes off as slow at first until the plot starts to climax which is where the conflict and fighting intensifies. So yes, there is fighting, but there is also meaningful dialogue.

Very Good Sci Fi/Fantasy Anime Series

I own the Bandai dvd set and this is one of my favorite science fiction/fantasy series. The storyline has a lot of twists and turns, the characters are well developed and complex. Pacifica has a semi bratty streak but is very compassionate. The set case says this native hd but I belive it's an upscale and a pretty decent one at that, the video and audio are a nice step up quality wise from the original dvd set. I think this set is worthwhile buy even if you-like me have the old dvd set. Recommended.

a rare breed of a genre

telling the story of an outcast princess and her sibling on a journey with no destination. scrap princess, is a genre that rare to me because when it done right, it does so exceptionally. the predecessor of chaika the coffin princess, scrap princess is not an anime of fancy action, fluid animation. It an anime that build on the relationship of people, it take time for us to know the character, feel their hardship, struggle and motivation. In some way this often turn off some viewers due to it slow pace but, this isn't something you would watch to get your blood pumping, instead it something that would make you think, and that is something that earn my praise. just sit down and enjoy the journey, one episode at a time, take time to digest this artifact of the golden age of anime, and appreciate this salvaged diamond from the scrap

Feudal Fantasy meet Science Fiction

Scrapped Princess is a fun ride with memorable characters. Side characters get a lot of love in this series. The show has some fun gnostic undertones as it goes on. The twists and turns are enjoyable, neither completely out of the blue as to be distracting but nor so predictable as to be boring. Will appeal to those who enjoy feudal settings. On the downside, our lead Pacifica herself can be a bit tiring at times as she can very whiney/childish. She makes up for this in other ways, but it can get annoying fast.

All in all, this show is a classic. I highly recommend people give it a shot.

A classic of the fantasy genre.

Those who are familiar with Scrapped Princess creator Ichiro Sakai’s other works (Outbreak Company, Chaika: Coffin Princess), should have an idea of what they are getting with Scrapped Princess, as it especially shares a lot in common with Chaika, except with character designs expected of early 2000’s anime (so no loli fetishization if that’s something you’re worried about.) Not your typical light novel adaptation, Scrapped Princess weaves expert fantasy world building with realistic yet heart rending human relationships and the drama that those entail. The world building of Scrapped Princess really is superlative, complete with it’s own religions/superstitions and unique science fiction inspired magic abilities, and of course the lore by which the central story is driven: “The Prophesy of the Scrapped Princess who will one day destroy the world.”

A Programmed Prophecy

This is a great series with strong characters and an intriguing blend of swords and sorcery with science-fiction elements. A fairly good amount of comedy, mystery, and drama, too. The ending theme is surprisingly memorable - I find myself humming the tune at work, or out walking. The packaging is also good: each disc is is separate from the others and easy to remove and return.
