Not as good as DBZ
by Mark
Well, I really liked DBZ. After all, it did pretty much invent the Shonen genre. So, I decided to read this manga, as it was written by the same author. Well, it wasn't as good.
There is only one volume. The story is rushed, and would have been much better at maybe four volumes. But, while I was reading, I kept wondering when it would end. How does a one-volume manga be rushed, yet also drag on?
The fights aren't as impressive as DBZ, and the characters, while interesting, only get one volume, while the characters of DBZ had over 30 volumes to get development. Still, this isn't a bad manga, just nothing special.
A refreshingly new work from Toriyama
by JOSEPH
Short, sweet and well drawn, Sand Land is a great little dystopian tale that moves and quickly and doesn't disappoint. It's nice to see Toriyama doing something outside of the Dragon Ball universe and knowing how he struggled to draw the tank (one of the stories central devices) gives you a little added satisfaction while reading it.
Like I've said before, how can you go wrong with this price!
