Fun and Beautiful Edo Period Action Romp

by -

Fun, titillating, beautiful, and a little whiny all describe this action-harem series. Set in a modern day Edo Period, Samurai Girls follows the trials of a collection of beautiful maddens bent on saving Japan from a lurking power by growing closer to a single General who has the power to make them ultimate warrior chicks via a passionate kiss. Comedy and drama ensue.

This is a fan service heavy entry, and there's plenty of up-skirt, nipple, and awkward shots (no trim). The animation is epic. Bloom, water colors, thick black outlines, and ink blots abound. All of the girls have unique personalities, but they're all a little routine. Still a fun series. No marathon mode, great translations, and the shorts on Disc 2 are pure ecchi.

Take 2.

I tried to get my daughter to watch this series and she had avoided it until after I traded it away. She watched it online and began pestering me to get another copy. I had gotten Samurai Bride (the 2nd season of Girls) and have finally gotten this 2nd copy. Samurai After, a series of OVAs, still can't be found on a collected disc. All 3 tell the story and add an element of intrigue into some familiar themes. My daughter and I both love this series.
