About Saekano Set 1 Blu-ray

“I’m gonna make you into a heroine that no one can resist!”

One day, an otaku high school student Tomoya Aki has a fateful encounter with a girl amidst the beautiful cherry blossom trees. This meeting inspires Tomoya to design his very own “gal-ge” (dating-simulation PC game) featuring a heroine modeled after the girl he saw. In order to make his desire a reality, Tomoya must persuade a few eccentric “creators” such as the ace member of the art club and his childhood friend, Eriri Spencer Sawamura and the school’s top student, Utaha Kasumigaoka to join his development team. Meanwhile, Tomoya is shocked to learn that the girl he idolized as his muse for this whole project was none other than Megumi Kato, who is a super low-profile girl who he doesn’t even notice that she is in the same class! But, this doesn’t dissuade Tomoya. He is determined to make Megumi an ultimate gal-ge heroine!

Amazing show.

It's hard to find a show where EVERY girls is "Best Girl" but this one pulls it off. Every character is just wonderful, and have their own fun little quirks that never manage to hit that annoyingly overdone factor so many harem type shows do.

My only very minor complaint is that a couple lines got changed and make slightly less sense.

In the original streaming Aki's line: "I never thought you'd be this fun to hang out with, though i'm probably not one to talk" gets changed to "I never thought you'd hang out with me so patiently, Though i'm not one to talk." which makes her rebuttal "That's definitely an "I dunno about that" sort of thing" make almost no sense at all. Either way, great show and looking forward to V2 in a couple months.

The first line implies that he thought he was also fun to hang out with, and she was politely disagreeing, the second implies... what? That she wasnt being patient? That HE wasnt???

A solid set

This is your very standard Aniplex release being a single BD jewel case with art cards in a soft box. The things to note are that the art on the box is from the Japanese releases with and they added this glossy finish to the character and the objects around them while the box its self is a plain white. It's a really nice effect, but I don't know if I would like them to do that in the future. It's kind of distracting to me.

The biggest thing of note is that it comes in a re-sealable bag so you can protect it from shelf-ware. Aniplex has been doing this a lot with their releases lately and I hope that continues.

One of the better and economical sets from Aniplex

This review is strictly focused on the aesthetics and content that you will receive in this blu-ray set, but...my two cents on the series itself is that it's hilarious and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters. Anyways, we all know the price on Aniplex releases tend to be on the pricier side in comparison to other companies and may cost you quite a bit to own just one series. The good thing in Saekano's case is that there are only two sets and are on the lower side of the price for Aniplex. What you get in this blu ray are the discs in a case protected by an outer sleeve and some collectible postcards. It's not much like other limited edition blu rays, but it's simplistic and nice. The outer sleeve is good quality and is packaged in what you'd expect from a Japanese blu ray release (plastic sleeve rather than shrinkwrap). As a collector, this is one of the more affordable buys for me!

REALLY wishing for a DvD set

I don't have Blue Ray... but I have seen this series...

This is one of the most hilarious comedies that's come around in a while. The humor is pure Otaku and the girls in this one are really unique. The story is a very simple and straight forward one... but the dry humor is done to perfection.

This is honestly one of my favorite comedy series. Its not the humor of absurdity that Devil is a Part Timer or Is this A Zombie has... its very dry and witty humor, a perfect combination of all of the above.

Just a really great show.

By the way While I haven't seen the BD/DvD set yet... Episode 0 Is actually the ENDING episode of the series... not the beginning... if it goes the way it played out in the normal series... If Episode 0 in this starts on a train trip to a Hot Springs... its actually the END of the series episode... not the beginning.

Great release, show may not be for everyone

Saekano is likely something you either really enjoy or something you really won't. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground.

It's a harem show, and the premise is fresh but the situations are generally contrived and lampoon some classic harem show tropes. That's not to say they make it original, but for me they at least made it enjoyable to watch.

Aniplex pricing structure notwithstanding, this is a great release that if you can catch it on a streaming service to ensure you enjoy it, and assuming you DO enjoy it, the Blu Ray release is top quality.

Great BD package for collectors at decent price.

This is a nice BD set with some extra original Japanese artwork included. So, if you're a collector, this is the best choice available and price isn't too bad (compared to many other ANIPLEX releases). The anime has a decent history-line, cute characters and a little bit of comedy. Isn't a theme (harem anime) that everyone would enjoy, though. I recommend buying then watch both seasons without interruption as it makes more sense.
