About SCHOOL-LIVE! Blu-ray

SCHOOL-LIVE! contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Masaomi Andō.

Why would anyone form a School Living Club? Could four girls, their advisor, and a puppy really love their school so much that they'd want to live in it? Or is there another reason, something that lurks behind the façade of their comfortable existence? Something that waits outside their school's doors. Something that has already robbed one girl of her sanity? While the others try to come to grips with a dark new reality, the rest of the world falls to ruin at the hands of a ravenous force, and insanity may be the last hope for survival. Shocks, heartbreak and stunning revelations await as the twisted tale unfolds.

Special Features: Clean Opening and Closing Animation.

School-Live!: More Than Meets the Eye

by

School-Live! is one of the best anime series from 2015. It is a show than is deeper than its cast of cute girls might make you believe. Part of the joy of watching this anime is to look closer and find out what really is going on. I don't want to discuss the premise because it could spoil the fun. But I can guarantee that it is a well written and good looking show that is very satisfying.

I realize that this product is not out yet, but I still want to write this review to serve as a recommendation for those unfamiliar with this show. It is getting an English dub, and based on the recent efforts from Sentai Filmworks, it should be a strong one. If it is needed and possible I will make corrections to this review. In the meantime, pre-order this product with the confidence that you are buying a quality show.

Excellent zombie apocalypse story

by -

The story follows four schoolgirls coping with the sudden arrival of the zombie apocalypse. All four girls have solid character development and growth as the story moves long. The motivations and experiences of each are explored in how they view their situations and their roles within the group dynamics.

I like the visuals alternating between Yuki's coping mechanism view of the world and the actual reality. Yuki may seem a liability at first, but each of the suggestions she proposes actually helps the rest of the group resolve issues facing the entire group and not really a liability, even if not at first apparent to either the group or the viewers. While visually delusional, her mind is still processing reality and trying to ensure everyone stays alive.

The story follows the ongoing source manga fairly closely with only minor deviations. The anime stops at a good point so story feels like a good conclusion. I hope a second season is made when enough source material is published.

Didn't See This One Coming . . .

by -

Saying this show surprised me, would be a MASSIVE understatement. I went in with the idea that "School-Live!" was another slice of life/high school shenanigans of a show, but there was SO much more to it than that. "School-Live!" offers an interesting plot, with some very decent character writing. And, if you have not seen it, I highly recommend checking it out. I won't say anymore, because it is best to go into this show as blind as possible.

As far as the Blu-Ray is concerned, I am quite happy with it. All twelve episodes, on two discs. No more. No less. It also features clean opening and closing animations, if you are into that sort of thing.

For those of you who enjoyed the show, and do not want to spend the money for the limited edition of "School-Live!" or just do not care for all the bells and whistles that the limited edition offers, this Blu-Ray is for you. It is a great addition to any collection.

Caught me off guard

by

Completely went into this anime blindly and was shocked by the end of the first episode. Great concept with a mix a cuteness and horror. The first episodes were great but becomes more of a slice of life as the series goes on. There are exciting moments and I wish they focused more on the world building.
Definitely worth a watch.
