Volume one of a classic shoujo manga

by -

I love The Rose of Versailles, so when I found out the manga was to be translated into English, I pre-ordered a copy of this volume immediately. I received it in the mail last week, and I'm impressed with the quality of the book. Riyoko Ikeda's art is lively and vibrant, matching the story perfectly, and several pages are in full color. The pages themselves are made of what seems to be high-quality paper. The cover has some minor creasing on the spine, but it was probably damaged during production, as RightStuf always takes care to pack my items carefully (if it were more severe damage, I'd give this book four stars instead of its rightful five). Despite the noted imperfections of my copy, I encourage anyone interested in reading a tale full of romance, adventure, and intrigue to pick one up. Oscar Francois won't disappoint you!

You won't regret buying this one.

I just finished reading this beautiful brilliant manga yesterday, well at least the first of five volumes. Although originally published starting in 1972 in Japan, this is the first official English publication of this beloved Japanese Classic. Udon Manga has done The Rose of Versailles justice with this gorgeous hardcover edition. If graphic novels or manga are your thing, I highly recommend it.
