Great show, but cheap release.

While it’s not a faithful adaptation of the manga, which is one of my favs, Rosario+Vampire is still a great inclusion to the rom/com harem genre. Now let's talk about this release. I was skeptical when Funimation launched its new essentials line of Bluerays which are the replacement of the S.A.V.E. DVDs. For presentation I'm impressed. They used a decent case without the flimsy disc-hubs. The disc art is great featuring both of Moka's forms and her sister, Kokoa. The menu screen looks great with a moving background instead of a still image. Once you watch this release you can see why this is priced at $20+. There's poor interlacing with background movement, such as cars glitching in and out of the screen. The picture quality is not that of a blueray and is quite disappointing. Sound for english and japansese audio seem fine as do the subtitles. If you have the money buy the older bluerays. If you're on a budget this isn't terrible considering the price. SAVE>essentials

read the manga, the anime is bad

This is the typical Rom-Com/Harem title, however with the monster girl twist. The first season is very bland, and while not terrible by itself the series tends to go stale really quickly. The 2nd season is terrible, and is where this series earns its 1 star. The premise for season 2 is already stale at this point and it takes it and makes it really awkward. The interaction between the lead and the girls gets really awkward at points and then series ends just as the main character shows signs of not being totally gutless.
In summary... if you need to see panty shots in pretty much every scene.. then this is your title. Otherwise the first season is passable, the 2nd season do yourself a favor and avoid.
On the flip side.. the manga for this series is actually pretty good.. just this anime adaptation that is pretty poor.
Fantastic Anime Show
A super fun anime to watch as hi jinks ensue when beautiful female monsters fight over one human boy. Super fun to watch and enjoy. Wish they did another season.
