hard boiled!

First things first, the titular rooster is incredibly rendered. He is drawn realistically and anatomically correct down to the way he walks. His face has a nice human touch to it, as birds in general can be kinda creepy, without being comical. His inner monologue is so stoic and hard boiled like a jaded, reluctant hero. I’m not sure the humans around can ‘hear’ him or not but it’s still funny that he can beat giant monsters and still get teased by little kids. I’m a huge fan of comedies like these, similar to way of the househusband.
What the cluck is this?

It's a mature-ish parody of "tough loner hero" series with a story that takes itself seriously, an art-style that in almost all cases does, and a joke of a premise made funnier by how it's played straight. A chicken who is the equivalent of early Ryu from Street Fighter (limited powers, but WELL tougher than an ordinary person) on a mission of vengeance.
Why mature-ish? There's steamy scenes that would in movie form mean at least PG-13. (No things shown, but not for young kids.) Also, fights to the death.
For a good feel and laugh, Google "Rooster Fighter manga trailer".
The setting is modern day Japan. It seems animals understand humans, understand each other, and humans can understand the body language / pantomiming of animals, though not their speech.
If you replaced the animals with humans you would have a competent, if not really unique action series. There's enough hinted at that you'll want to keep reading to see how it started and to see more of certain characters.
