The most beautifully artistic anime movie in years.

This movie has an average story. It focuses on the eight racers and their hope to win a racing tournament only held once every five years. Each character is very likable, so it doesn't to detract from it's strong points.

REDLINE IS BEAUTIFUL. The first time I watched this movie I felt guilty for seeing it free. Not only is this movie in 1080p, but it has been in production for SEVEN years, and the entire movie was hand drawn. The music was also absolutely perfect for each setting. A personal theme for each racer, heavy electronic beats for the races, and romantic pop for the serious moments in the story.

Why so many people like this movie is because not only is one of the greatest artistic gems in years, the story is decent enough to keep you focused and interested in the characters.

Bottom line: If you want to treat your eyes and ears then you can do no better.

Fun Film with Excellent Visuals

Redline is an anime film that I would describe as "fun". It's a straightforward action movie following JP through the Redline racing tournament. That being said, the story material isn't lacking at all. The world of Redline is really interesting and there's a lot to it and if you're like me, you'll find yourself wishing there was another movie or a series to explore the world more, learn more about the secondary characters and watch more races. The coolest thing about Redline that makes it stand out, is the fact that it was done entirely in 2D animation. The art style compliments the strictly 2D animation really well and is definitely the highlight of this film. Well worth picking up for the price and great for any anime movie night.

Racing Cranked Up and Awesome Art

Redline is one of the best anime visually ever even competing with Ufotable quality. All hand drawn over years and the work shows through. It is about racing rocket cars, race fixing and military intervention as JP competes in a race on a planet with a military trying to kill the racers. Action packed with beautiful animation it is a great show and if racing is what your into then I highly recommend.

High octane anime!

I can see a Hollywood exec being wowed by the elvator pitch you could make about this "It's Fast and the Furious meets Guardians of the Galaxy" This could be adapted into a popular summer Hollywood movie. It's got great action, unbelievably good character designs, an easy to understand plot, fun characters and it's filled with fun.

That said, a Hollywood adaptation would probably add unnessecary subplots, cut down on the action, make it less weird and cut the topless scene - so let's be happy that this is what it is- a near perfect anime action masterpiece!

Also, the bluray picture and sound are magnificent. Watch it with your sound system cranked for maximum pleasure.!

The quality of the case is your standard Blu-Ray plastic and the cover art is exactly as you see it.

However, behind that is one of the most revved-up, exhilarating, action-packed, well animated movies I've ever seen. If you've heard nothing of the story, the reputation of its animation has surely befallen your ears at some point. Those words are no lie. 7 years and over 100,000 frames do give ample credit to the quality of Redline's animation.

Animation aside, the characters are pretty solid, albeit more on the shallow side. Regardless, they're a great complement to the film's story.

The main con to this film is that it stops almost as fast as it starts. As though the animators were like "too long, time to wrap this up and go home."

All in all, it's a "what can happen next" type of film and really revels in that fact. This type of movie won't be a hit with everyone, but I can tell you it was with me.

A great thrill, one of my all time favorites!

HolyCow ! Hold on to Your seatcovers !

I had passed this one up a few time on Nat-Fleks , But then gave it a view . If that race WAS real ,i'd sell my kids (pun) to go to see it live ! WOW . Even the trailer for it is like a music video (in fact when I'm done writing this I'm going to watch it (again) ) .

An epic thrill ride

Amazing visuals and art style. It also has great characters with depth who will have you cheering them on throughout the story. It's a much watch for any anime fan.

Holy Sh** WOW

I'm not gonna lie, I went in having VERY VERY high expectations, and I wasn't too disappointed. It's very obvious that the visuals are stunning if you read any other comments, but the soundtrack, the action, the bits of story they threw in, this is definitely a thrill ride.

All the adrenaline

The best way to explain this movie is "beautiful" in the artistic sense. This is one of the few animated movies that was completely hand-drawn requiring 7 years to produce. The music is amazing, the characters are quirky in personality and design, and the vehicles come in various shapes and sizes. A must-own movie for racing adrenaline fans. The only downside to this movie was the cheesy ending, but everything else from start to right before the end makes up for it.

Thumping beats and eye candy.

A very enjoyable movie that you can turn your brain off and for and just enjoy the visuals and thumping beats. The story isn't anything special, but it is executed we'll enough. This is about pure simple fun and contains some of the most gorgeous animation put to film. Side note: I got some Mad Max and Death Race vibes from this movie.

The Most Beautiful but Nonsensical Movie Ever!!!

'High octane' is an understated description for this movie which is balls-to-the-floor insane with its high adrenaline fast animation that is as smooth as silk. Well, during the races anyways. It is beautiful in its execution, especially when you take into context that the animation team spent almost a decade HAND DRAWING EVERY SINGLE THING, so its not a surprise that the story did not receive the same amount of attention. That is not a huge detraction though since, well, IT IS a racing movie and the races are worth the price of admission!

Must watch

Visual masterpiece

Space racing

I can't believe this film hasn't gotten anymore attention. If I had to make a comparison to something, best one would have to be FLCL artwork with a Cowboy bebop background.

Enjoy the Ride

Redline is a lot like if F-Zero were a movie; Beings from all across the galaxy gather to race their machines. You get a bit of backstory on all the racers but its really all about the high energy racing.
Really cool, heavily shaded art style. Not afraid to show grossly detailed faces too. Really just an animated spectacle from beginning to end.

My Favorite Movie of All Time

by -

I absolutely adore Redline. From the first 10 minutes I was hooked. Redline has some of the best, most punchy, most weighty, and most satisfying 2D animation I have ever seen. The sound design is also excellent; the SFX only add to the satisfaction, and the soundtrack has some of my favorite tracks for any movie. Some may say that the story is lacking, but it is a movie that knows exactly what it wants to be, and even rewards you for paying attention to the nuances. I would recommend a great deal of people (especially those who play action or racing games) to watch this movie. If I haven't convinced you to watch it, go take 10 minutes to watch the opening of Redline. I promise you won't be going anywhere.

The Best Anime Movie I've Seen Since Promare

Yes, I know Promare came out a decade after Redline, but I only just got around to seeing this one, and ever since I saw Promare in theaters, it's set the bar for eye-bleeding anime action, and that is a bar that Redline easily meets. The story isn't deep, but it doesn't need to be, it's perfect for a fun, cathartic rollicking good Saturday morning cartoon style good time. It feels like the lovechild of the original Fast & Furious and the Heavily Metal animated anthology movie. Don't sleep on this one like I did.
