Re:ZERO's First Book is Trite, but it has Potential

This is coming from someone who has only read the first volume of the Light novel- I wasn't impressed. Now, this is my opinion, and a lot of people really love this franchise, but for me, it simply failed to live up to the hype.
It's your typical"otaku is transported to fantasy world" story, but there's an neat hook in that the main character can respawn, or time travel, whenever he dies. However, despite that cool idea, the book was bogged down by a lack of description, clumsy writing, and many tropes we've seen before.
I can’t recommend Re:ZERO yet, but given it's popularity, it may get better in future volumes. For now, though, I’d only recommend it if you’re already a fan of Re:Zero, or a fan of “transported to another world” stories.

good stuff must buy
The start to an amazing story.
I immediately fell in love with the setting, the characters, and the artwork. Even though this first novel is mostly introductory material, I was still intrigued with every page. If you are looking for a new world to immerse yourself in, I recommend picking up this series!!
