Re:ZERO Starting Life in Another World Novel Volume 1 is written by Tappei Nagatsuki with illustrations by Shinichirou Otsuka.

Subaru Natsuki was just trying to get to the convenience store but wound up summoned to another world. He encounters the usual things--life-threatening situations, silver haired beauties, cat fairies--you know, normal stuff. All that would be bad enough, but he's also gained the most inconvenient magical ability of all--time travel, but he's got to die to use it. How do you repay someone who saved your life when all you can do is die? Find out in volume 1 of Re:ZERO!

Re:ZERO's First Book is Trite, but it has Potential

This is coming from someone who has only read the first volume of the Light novel- I wasn't impressed. Now, this is my opinion, and a lot of people really love this franchise, but for me, it simply failed to live up to the hype.

It's your typical"otaku is transported to fantasy world" story, but there's an neat hook in that the main character can respawn, or time travel, whenever he dies. However, despite that cool idea, the book was bogged down by a lack of description, clumsy writing, and many tropes we've seen before.

I can’t recommend Re:ZERO yet, but given it's popularity, it may get better in future volumes. For now, though, I’d only recommend it if you’re already a fan of Re:Zero, or a fan of “transported to another world” stories.

The start to an amazing story.

I immediately fell in love with the setting, the characters, and the artwork. Even though this first novel is mostly introductory material, I was still intrigued with every page. If you are looking for a new world to immerse yourself in, I recommend picking up this series!!

Great Read!

I got this book since I loved the anime series and started reading the books. The book does have several grammatical errors and such but it isn't too bad. I have read through volume 5 now and am noticing the translation/editing is getting better each volume. Once you get a little into the story more it isn't any issue anymore. I would recommend this to any avid book readers who loved the anime series.
