Better Visuals + No Stackpack = Best Tutu Release Ever!
by Akito -
This is by far the best way to watch the show for North American viewers. I would've thrown money at a premium edition like Japan got, but the packaging has been retooled to match that thematically, which I love. Red is better than pink and brown lol
The video quality is a BIG jump up from the DVD release (not perfect as it's 1080i interlaced, but it looks great in comparison). Colors are vibrant, nothing looks washed out or grainy. Most of the MANY bonus features are in SD quality, and that's perfectly OK. Sentai also had the respect not to make this a stackpack, which I greatly appreciate, as this was the biggest flaw with about 1/3 of the show's DVD releases. Highly recommend picking up this set if this is your first dance with Princess Tutu; you're in for a wild ride.
TOP SECRET: press Right on your remote's arrow keys on Disc 3 when the Special Features option is highlighted to watch the secret "Mr. Cat Collections"! Dsicovered this by accident and it's pretty neat!
An Underrated Magical Girl Anime Classic (GLAD THAT IT IS FINALLY COMING TO BLU-RAY!)
by Sailor Erin
Princess Tutu is one of my favorite Magical Girl animes alongside with Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Madoka Magica, etc. I love this series so much, sure the first part is a bit formulaic (find the missing pieces of the Prince's heart and return those pieces to him so he can be whole again and remember who he is and all that..) but when the second act happens everything goes darker! I love deconstruction anime such as this one and others (NGE, Madoka Magica, etc.) The English Dub is to me one of the greatest dubs I listen too! Everyone fits! Luci Christian as Duck/Princess Tutu, Chris Patton as Fakir, Jessica Boone as Rue/Princess Kraehe, Jay Hickman as Mytho, etc. as the main four are AMAZING! Also, Princess Tutu has SO MUCH bonus features than any other animes that I own (behind the microphone, commentaries, ballet lessons, classical music lessons, production art, etc. .... AND BLOOPERS! XD)
Magical Girl with a surprisingly sinister edge
by meronichan
A duck who transforms into a heroine. A lonely prince without a heart. A prima ballerina with a dark secret. An abrasive knight with a heavy burden. And the mysterious Drosselmeyer, who seems keen to have their tale meet its tragic end,...
This is the main cast of Princess Tutu, a story of fairy tale archetypes struggling against their predetermined fates. Much like Revolutionary Girl Utena and Madoka Magica, it is a deconstruction of the fairy tale genre with some surprising and dark twists about halfway through. Don't be put off by the silly title, this is one anime that is not to be missed, especially in crisp HD for the first time in the states.
Verdict: buy it!
Shockingly Amazing

This anime is awesome. My friend recommended it to me. Just start watching It and don’t look into it. Trust me it is better that way. Soundtrack is amazing, a lot of well known classical songs.

Exemplary Extras
by TJF588
There’s been much said for this anime, but I can just carry on about its extra features. I and mine still quote the dub bloopers, and seeing the English actors in theirs recording sessions, especially for scenes where their given performance is not focal for a scene, is intriguing. There are even in-character explanations of various real-world ballet terms and their implementations in the show!
