About Phantasy Star Online 2 DVD

Phantasy Star Online 2 contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is the most popular game on the web, and almost everyone at Seiga Academy is deeply immersed in it. When the school administration begins to worry that the game is causing more harm than good, student council president Rina Izumi sets out to prove PSO2's virtual positives. To confirm her opinion, she recruits Itsuki Tachibana, one of the few students who isn't already hooked, and instructs him to learn how to play so she can study the effects.

What at first seems like a brilliant and simple plan instead lifts the lid off a Pandora's Box filled with unexpected complications. As Itsuki's life undergoes a rapid transformation, it soon becomes clear that PSO2 may be much more than merely a game! In fact, a whole new world waits on the other side of the net!

Special Features: Japanese Commentary, Episode 13 Series Mash-Up, Clean Opening Animation and Clean Closing Animation.

An Odd Game Adaptation

by

While we have no shortage of anime based on video games, this one is, well . . . different. It's mainly a story about a high school student getting engrossed in the eponymous game, and it mostly follows a slice-of-life approach focusing more on school life and the game's learning curve than an actual plot. For the most part, there's only the occasional hint that the game is more than it appears until things finally get moving near the end. The game's actual plot, story, and characters are barely dealt with at all.

The plot and characters are pedestrian and nothing to write home about, with the prevalent school scenes (and those populating them) being nothing but standard cliches. However, the art and animation are generally above par, and we do get some real action toward the end.

Still, this is only recommended if you want the eye candy or must buy anything PSO2. Both game fans and those unfamiliar with it can easily find better.

Definitely a renter.

Bought this because I really liked PSO from the dreamcast and gamecube. Sound affects are familiar but everything else seems off. Don't like the story line. They could have done better.
