About Parasyte the maxim Collection 1 DVD

Parasyte ~ the maxim Collection 1 contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Kenichi Shimizu.

It's the ultimate nightmare. One minute Shinichi Izumi is a normal teenager asleep in his bed. The next he's been infected with a deadly parasitic organism determined to devour his brain and turn his body into the planet Earth's new apex predator.

But Shinichi partially foils the attack and, instead of being consumed, finds that the creature known as Migi has taken the place of his right hand. Now forced to share the same body, the two must become unwilling allies. Migi isn't the only one of his kind, and unless human and parasyte work together, they'll both be killed as abominations.

Prepare yourself for a horrifying new world where the survival of the fittest and the survival of the human race are no longer the same thing. Monsters lurk behind every corner and every face as the human race becomes prey in Parasyte ~ the maxim!

Okay first I have only seen this in Japanese with English subtitles but it was still awesome. The opening song is one of my favorites and the graphics are pretty good. There is a lot and I mean a lot of blood and gore (Think Akame Ga Kill but not as bad as Blood C by CLAMP) so here is your warning on that. Its got good comedic moments too and touching moments as well as romance. Migi Shunichi's parasitic right hand is as adorable as he is deadly. Good story line, and far as I know there will be no second season. If you read the manga it is a lot longer and more detailed than the anime but trust me the anime is still worth its five stars because it is so interesting. The ending is a bit lackluster but does make sense and ties things up at the end. Over all me likey very much.

Love it all.....except for the soundtrack, ugh.

Read the whole manga series of Parasyte and absolutely fell in love with it. Decided to give the anime a try and was loving it, until the soundtrack just completely ruined this amazing story for me. It is a wonderful horror anime but I would recommend the manga over the anime for sure!

Gory, and mega intense

This collection 1 is amazing. I loved the first 12 episodes. I hope the second collection for DVD comes out, but i am not holding my breath.

Just realize this gory, intense, and about aliens. You can't go wrong if you get it for a good deal!

Tentacular horror action

This anime was a favorite of mine on adult swim, and I was glad to pick it up. Drawing inspiration from John Carpenter's The Thing, the Parasyte manga also seems to have inspired Las Plagas in Resident Evil 4. If these interest you, give Parasyte a view!

Horror action show

Parasyte is about alien invaders taking over human hosts to feed on humanity. The main character ends up having to work with one of these aliens who takes control of his right hand but not his mind. This leads to both body horror (as you see on the cover, the body the alien's take over become malleable) and great fight scenes, where the main character has to be creative in order to survive against these creatures.
What surprised the most about the show was how grief and loss was explored throughout the show, of course I cant discuss much about that without spoilers. Of course there are very intense fight scenes throughout, almost like a shounen battle anime, just with more blood, but there is also a mature emotional core to the story that I think may make it one of the most memorable battle anime out there.

Be prepared to fall in love with a little squishy alien thingy and go through a short rollercoaster of emotions. Basically there is a parasite issue and these parasites get to either take complete control over their host if they get to certain vital organs within a certain time frame OR if they don't they kind of wind up coexisting with their host (the humans) and thats basically the main just of it, which clearly causes some problems, nobody is prepared to grow a being off themselves overnight thats fully conscious and has their own agenda.
