The continuation of a legend

by -

an awesome continuation of the story of no the legend that is Ainz Ooal Gown and his followers thinking he is an omnipotent leader thinking 10 steps a head of everyone. if you are already read this series of books then why haven't you bought this yet. for those who have only seen the anime i recommend buying the books if your looking to get more insight into the characters and what is going though their heads. i don't want to spoil anything but get ready for some action some laughs and more importantly Albedo and the rest of Nazarick thinking Ainz is Awesome which he is

Overlord Volume 9 Review

by -

For those who enjoyed the anime, this is a buy. The later third of season 3 covers this book and the book, by far, can tell a better story. Animes have limited time for each episode resulting in things getting cut. Books don’t really have this problem. They can go into greater detail on the setting, characters’ thoughts, etc. that you don't get in the anime.

The book isn't perfect though. Translation/editing can get weird and you may have to reread some sentences. For example, "It had suffering a mental shock, but its training taught it not to run". Replacing "had" with "was" or "suffering" with "suffered" would have sound better. Thankfully, these occurrences are rare, unlike some novels such The Rising of the Shield Hero. Some might also not like how Ainz is called the King of Darkness in the english translation, instead of the Sorcerer King.

Overall, I enjoyed volume 9 from the comedic misunderstandings Ainz has with his servants to the destruction that followed in the story.

Solid Continuation of Overlord's Story

by -

Volume 9 is is a solid entry in the ongoing light novel series, Overlord. For those following the anime, this volume in particular covers the second half of the third season. As with most book/video comparisons, the light novel version carries more depth and explores some of the character's thoughts and motivations more fully. It also continues the situational humor and perpetual misunderstandings that make the series so entertaining. Binding is solid, and the art is still good. If you've enjoyed the series so far, it should satisfy your expectations.
I knocked off one star for the occasional awkward lines. These are rare, and I'm not sure if these are merely the result of goofs in translation, the author's own writing style, or a combination of both. Don't expect these books to be high minded literature. They're easy, quick, and fun reads. At the end of the day though, if you're reading these entertainment, there's not much else you can ask for. 4/5 Stars.
