Continues past season 1 of the anime
by myskaros -
This is the first book with material past the end of season 1 of the Overlord anime. Different from the previous 3 books, Momonga is not the primary protagonist, but he still appears frequently. Instead, we primarily watch the story unfold through the eyes of Cocytus, one of Nazarick's guardians, and Zaryusu, a lizardman trying to unite his race before Cocytus's army invades.
We get an in-depth look at the lizardman race and history, and also a window into how truly overpowering Momonga's forces are as he spreads his influence and dominance over this new world. We also start to see how Momonga's underlings may start to change in this new world.
Since previous volumes had numerous plots overlapping, this book may feel longer since it focuses only on the lizardman war, but it properly, and viscerally, continues the story of Momonga's world domination.
hello left marsh (field) where did you come from

maybe the weakest of the series we follow not Ainz or any of the established characters but members of lizardmen tribes as they try to combat armies of Nazarick under the command of Cocytus. i found this book to be the hardest to get through as it was mostly about the lizardmen and their struggle, rather then about Ainz and the already established characters. the perspective change was interesting but being so early on though me for a loop if it was later on like book 4 i would say "a refreshing change of scenery" but its not cause we are so early in the story. this book is more of a set up for events to come or even, i hate to say it filler its not bad its just why now. the author explains on why in his afterwords
Only buy if you want to collect them, it was boring

Definitely the slowest entry. I really didn't care the entire time. It cuts away from our main cast and focuses on a tribe of Lizardmen. They are boring. My favorite part of this novel was the cover art.
