Slow Exposition Between Action and Lackluster Special Featurette at the End

by -

This book is largely a breath between action. Book 9 puts Sebas front and center. Sebas is my favorite character, so I was excited to see how his stiff grace would translate from the page to the picture. Unfortunately, we won't see Sebas in all his glory until a later book. Episode 31 starts with Ains counting money, then switches to Sebas walking. And shopping. Episode 32 is Sebas thinking. Episode 33 is Sebas caring. Episode 34 is Sebas cornered. This is all true to the light novel, so I can't fault it for that, but it's not thrilling by any means.

What bummed me most, though, is that the end of the book doesn't have as much in the "special features" department. For example, book 1 had an original short story. This book had a "recording report" because Overlord II was being produced, but the "report" is only two pages and didn't provide any additional insight into the universe. There were brief tidbits between episodes, though, which was nice.
