Gorgeous Artwork, Lackluster Narrative

by

I'm not sure what to think of this graphic novel. On the one hand, the artwork is stunning and does an amazing job of creating an atmosphere of despair, and is reason enough to buy this. But on the other hand, it's a little hard to follow the action at times, and there's no attempt to show the passage of time during the five months the story is supposed to take place. I also would have liked more insight into why the main character wanted to kill herself -- the story doesn't do that great a job of establishing her motives, it brushes over them too quickly for it to really sink in. Still, it makes me curious to read more of Benjamin's work, he really is great artist and I'm sure with practice he could become better at storytelling.

Terrific illustrations but lack of story

by

The art is absolutely stunning but the story was a bit disappointing. It actually bored me at some times. I'm not sure if I 100% recommend this visual novel, but maybe someone else would find it worth the buy.
