Definitely one of the better One Piece TV Specials, and it's great that we're getting it dubbed.
One Piece does it again!

This special was definitely one of the better offerings that One Piece has given us. It explains how the Straw Hats ended up at Grand Tosero in One Piece Gold. Also, it actually gives everyone a chance to stand out. It's been my experience with the specials and some of the movies that one or half of the crew gets pushed to the background in favor of the big showdown between Luffy and the villain or the new character that usually shows up. At any rate, vocals were good as usual and the ending theme was very typical of One Piece. The animation was good but coming into this special, it's after the whole Dressora storyline. Then again, Heart of Gold didn't really spoil anything from the anime or manga. So this is definitely a title I would recommend. If you're not trying to go broke buying the series, the movies do a good job of satisfying your one piece craving.
Almost a great special, but still entertaining

Heart of Gold takes place right before Film Gold and is a pretty good special. It’s not the best, but I still enjoyed it, and I would say it’s better than some of the other TV specials. There was just something about it that didn’t quite grab me. The story was interesting but it didn’t get too deep in the lore and I felt that the main antagonist’s two big crew mates didn’t get enough exposure, especially Naomi. Whether to watch this before or after Film Gold, you could go either way, but I would say after. Even though it happens just before Film Gold, I feel like there’s more of an impact and surprise watching it in this order. But in the end, Heart of Gold was pretty good, not the best, but enjoyable. It seems on par with the other specials relating to the movies. 4.5/5 stars
