And the stakes rise

by -

Volume 5 of Noragami contains chapters 16 through 19, continuing Bishamon's arc.

This volume is easily the most intense yet! Yukine's development here was pretty amazing when looking back on how he started out. I definitely like him a lot more, but it looks like things aren't going well for him with regards to the direction the plot is going, leaving me pretty concerned and very eager for the next volume. Trust me, you'll also want to pick up volume six when you get this one.

Although Yukine's change is quite impressive, the main focus of this arc regards Bishamon and her beef with Yato. It's neat to see a bit more into her life and how a well-known war god relates to her shinki compared to a lesser-known god such as Yato. The differences are pretty striking, and worrisome, for the safety of those involved.
