About Nichijou Blu-ray/DVD

Nichijou - My Ordinary Life - Complete Collection contains episodes 1-26 in the original Japanese language with subtitles.

Follow the adventures of three ordinary girls as they make life's awkward moments a thousand times worse. Along with a colorful bunch of classmates, they learn their most important lessons the hard way. Like whether goats are an appropriate form of transportation, who would win in a wrestling match between the principal and a deer, and most notably, if the three-second rule applies to weenies that fly through mohawks.

Meanwhile down the street, a pocket-sized professor makes life difficult for a robot who just wants to be normal. But normal is the last thing you can expect in a town where salmon fall from the sky. In fact, the only thing you can count on is your friends, but even they are totally weird.

From the creators of K-On! and Lucky Star comes a slice-of-life series packed with absurd antics and hilarious high school predicaments.

Things We Think Are Cool!

by -

I've loved Nichijou since I saw clips of it on YouTube years ago, and I was so happy to see it finally get a US release. The set is great, too!
The episodes are split over 4 DVDs and again over 3 Blu Ray discs, with extras on the last disc of each set. We get textless opening and closing animations, trailers (of course), and episode 0 of the series. The series and extras are rendered beautifully in HD on the Blu Ray discs.
While I know subbed-only can be a deal breaker for some, the subtitles at least don't make it difficult to watch the episodes, they aren't in the way and (what's more important for me) they aren't ugly. They actually look like they fit with the animation, rather than like they were slapped on as an afterthought.
If you have the money, and you can handle subtitles, I highly recommend this fun series.

Perhaps the craziest anime ever made from KyoAni

Nichijou, which translates to "My Ordinary Life" is an anime adapted by Kyoto Animation (the studio famous for bringing shows starring cute girls doing cute things and Free!!) and is basically about anything, but an ordinary school life. Several of the main characters include a trio of school girls (seen in the cover) Yuko, Mio and Mai, who often have over-the-top reactions to any given scenario, a eight-year-old professor with her robot who goes to school and talking cat, and more extremely hilarious characters. It also has high quality animation for the simplest scenes are an absolute joy to watch. There isn't any fan service either.
The two openings are also super catchy, so check those out too!
Don't expect any extreme character development or drama. The show's pretty clear on its intentions as an all-out crazy, hilarious mark in the anime world, and it does a great job at it.
Put it simply GRAB IT!! You will definitely enjoy it

God-tier Anime

by -

If you want anime that is on the level of the god-tier like Gurren Lagann or Code Geass, this anime is one of them. This anime is so hilariously funny that their reactions are often blown out of proportion.

I would suggest making this anime WAAAAAAAY on top of the list to buy, preferable as #1 on 'Want List'. If you decided to pass this up, you will miss the greatest anime ever create and you will regret in doing so. Just get this anime, I would recommend this greatly.

I rely heavily on the low ratings over the
high ratings when I do my online shopping.

Truth, there's nothing wrong with the Nichijou Blu-Ray/DVD.

GOTCHA! (☞゚∀゚)☞

My product arrived to me in a brilliant cardboard box with:

- No missing/scratched/faulty discs
- No broken case
- No damaged case sleeve

PERFECTION (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

If you've waited to add this anime to your collection since 2011,
save some money and get Nichijou. In that endeavor, it's worth it.

TRUE RATING: [ 4 / 5 S T A R S ] ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ☆

* what I dislike about this product PERSONALLY *

[ no commentaries, no BTS, nothing. The "EXTRAS" are standard: textless songs and trailers . . . come on ]

[ there's no way in hell an english dub would match the japanese comedic delivery of Nichijou. I knew that, Funimation knew that, but my curiosity would've liked to see them try anyway. ]

[ sigh . . . whatever . . . ] (¬_¬)

Add to cart? YES!

This is, out of all my anime years, one of the best comedy anime's ever! I first watched this on Crunchyroll, and when I found out that Funimation was going to release Nichijou, I was down on the pre-order list months before I ordered it. I really like the sound track and the lovable slice-of-life moments too. Really suggest buying this wonderful anime. :)

A super hilarious school-life comedy

by -

This is a must for anyone that loves to laugh. If you enjoyed Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, or Danshi Kokosei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys), you will definitely love this series. It also comes with both Blu Ray and DVD's together, which is better than having to buy one or the other.

The Best

by -

This is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched, and it still makes me laugh hysterically no matter how many times I watch it. Hands down my favorite anime of all time. The fluidity of the animation is incredible, and the timing and randomness of the jokes is perfect. Finally having this on Blu-Ray is a dream come true.

The only thing that bugs me is the lackluster special features. There pretty much are none (except the extra episode).

A must have in anyone's collection!

Kawaii!!!!!! To the max!!!!!!

I love nichijou, but the subtitles....

I love nichijou, but the quality of the blu ray is questionable. The subtitles are pixilated, the hole in the "o" is filled black, and it kinda drives me nuts. The image quality of the opening menu is rough, like it belongs to the DVD release. I think it goes without saying that when you purchase a blu ray, you hope that the release is optimized from the beginning to the end. Sadly, this release feels half assed. I really hope they re-release it with optimized subtitles and menu.

Please ignore my previous review.

Please ignore my previous review. I just realized I was watching the DVD version. That's why it looked and felt like a DVD.

Totally Recommend

One of the funnier animes I've watched. This is also one of the animes that you can watch over and over.

Hilarious anime that is always fun to just watch and enjoy a good laugh

Visual Comedy in Anime Done Right!

This is possibly one of the funniest slice-of-life comedies I've ever seen. The commitment to run-longing gags and the off-the-wall segments is perfect. I was so excited this set was released and on sale. Pick it up for a great laugh! If you like the "Scott Pilgrim" Edgar Wright type visual comedy, this is right up your alley !

My All Time Favorite

by -

Nichijou is my all time favorite anime. No matter how many times I watch it, I still laugh. I mean uncontrollably. The jokes strike my sense of humor perfectly. It also helps that the animation is some of the smoothest animation I've still ever seen in an anime show. The show does slow down a little by the end of the first half, but then it gets a shot of energy for the second half that lasts until the end. Speaking of which, the ending is very heartwarming. There isn't too much of a story overall (time progresses and characters meet each other), but Nichijou wraps up very nicely. Makes you feel all warm in your chest area. I could not recommend this anime enough.

If you love the series, get it!

I'm surprised that this series actually made it to America! I think the price is pretty fair too (I try to aim for 2-5$/episode), and for a series that I love, would have been willing to pay even more for this. It comes with 4 DVD and 3 Blu-Ray CDs and each version has standard extras (clean OPs/EDs, Trailers, OVA), and the packaging and cover art is charming too! Though things like the menu screens and the user interface is VERY simple and minimalistic (and the same for every CD), there really isn't anything worth complaining about. It provides solid subtitles with high video quality, and the fact that this series even made it over here makes any other small nitpicks pale in comparison to owning an official legal copy of this series!

Ordinary release - extraordinary product!

Nichijou is a very special in anime: an extraordinary blending of precisely timed humor and top-notch animation. Kyoto Animation was really showing off with this title, and its release in the States is long overdue.
Funimation's presentation looks and sound great, as far as I can tell (besides what might be a little banding in a few zoom shots). Bonus features include the episode 0 and clean opening/ending videos. Sadly no behind-the-scenes features are included, which a lavish production like this truly deserves to have. Curiously, the DVDs - but not the Blu-rays - have the option to turn off subtitles.
Although presentation is fairly simple, Nichijou itself is anything but. Every anime fan owes it to themselves to see this gem of a show. Pick it up at your first opportunity!

Item was received swiftly and in great condition. Got to enjoy a quality series again! It's also nice to have the songs without the text on the screen

Triumph of the Absurd

by -

Over their 35+ year history, Kyoto Animation has been responsible for a number of classic shows. This, however, may be their masterpiece. As improbable as it seems, this insane, bonkers show that flopped in Japan but later overcame the odds and developed a worldwide cult following was lavished with the kind of love that only animators who have truly mastered their craft are capable of. Each joke, no matter how brilliant or inane, is imbued with more enthusiasm, sparkle, and comedic life than lesser shows have in entire episodes. Bravura moments of animated brilliance take your breath away and leave you in awe of how remarkable a dumb punchline can be made in the hands of artistic genius. By the end of the series, the mundane has transcended into the profound, and one is left with the realization that absurd comedy can in fact be more than the sum of its jokes. With its unrelenting cavalcade of laughs, Nichijou achieves that rare and precious artistic nirvana of the sublime.

This is amazing

This anime is so silly and good. Love it! Nichijou was so hard to find too. I’m so glad I found this website :) and the prices are so good

Can't talk. Rewatching.

I absolutely love this show! Ever since I read the manga, I couldn't wait to watch it. Now that I have watched it, I want to watch it again and again. It makes me happy to this is one of my top 3 favorite anime series of all time!

Nichijou: My “Meh” Life

by -

Based on all the reviews, I was really hoping that Nichijou was going to be a hyped up version of Azumanga Daioh. After finishing all 26 episodes of Nichijou, I thought “That was a letdown”. Each episode is a series of short vignettes and that can work if there is enough variety in the jokes. Nichijou instead relies way too much on the: Character A does something weird and Character B goes “WHAAAAT!” setup. They run this and a few other jokes into the ground well before the end. Occasionally the fantastic animation helps revitalize the series, but it is not enough. Character development is lacking and leads me into my second biggest complain about the series. The child genius Hakase (who builds the robot Nano) is a spoiled, mean brat. Nano has to take care of Hakase, yet Hakase ignores Nano’s feelings and continually tinkers with Nano’s body. I grew to absolutely hate Hakase as a character and she never grows up.

The issues the series has outweigh the good . Skip it.
