About Neo Heroic Fantasia Arion Blu-ray

Neo Heroic Fantasia Arion is an anime film directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko.

In a far-flung time when Gods and Men walk the earth together, the child Arion plays in the rolling hills of Thrace. His mother Demeter is troubled by both a curse - blindness - and by the secret of Arion's birth. A mysterious stranger spirits Arion away, and seeks to shape the growing young man into an assassin, a secret weapon to tilt the balance of the war between Zeus and Poseidon. But Arion won't be manipulated easily, nor will he submit quietly to the hands of adversaries like the tenacious Ares, the intelligent and fierce Athena, or the elegant and scheming Apollo. Only his tremendous strength, a forgotten weapon forged by Prometheus, and the love and loyalty of his allies can carry Arion forward. To discover the secret of his destiny, Arion will have to storm Mount Olympus- and face down Zeus himself!

Greek Mythology As Japanese Fantasy Epic

by -

This is a fantastic alternative take on Greek mythology from master director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. The story is not from mythology itself but a sort of high-fantasy reimagining. The gods (largely) do not have the same personalities as their mythological counterparts but are different, twisted versions. And yet... the whole thing has the same feel and ambience of the world of the original myths - read Hesiod and you will realize that the darkness and constant conflict in this movie is very appropriate.

This blu-ray release is phenomenal. Picture is top notch, and audio is good. This thing is even packed with extras - you can spend a lot of time with this disc!

My first time watching, Arion...

by -

Always enjoyed "Venus Wars" so I was excited to try "Arion" by the same director. The art and animation are above average for the era and the music by Joe Hisaishi is spot on.

My only gripe with this film is the story meanders and could've easily been edited down from 2 hours to around 90 minutes without hurting much. Besides the uneven pacing there isn't much to complain about. I'm glad I purchased this movie but recognize it might not be for everyone. As you've probably read, it has a "Class of the Titans" thing going on which is up my alley.

This release looks and sounds great. As someone who has never seen this film, I feel this is a 5 star release of a 4 star movie. A featurette on the making of Arion is included. Rightstuf has a sale price at less than 20 bucks so I think there is good value for your money if you're curious. Enjoy.

It's something to collect.

Fictional Greet Mythology tale about a young boy named Arion who is taken away to the Underworld from his mother to be raised as an Assasin of The Gods release from the Underworld he set on a quest to kill Zeus but faces many dangers also falls in love. Animation it was released in 1986 quality was really good. The character designs by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko are best known for Anime's like Combattler V,Brave Raideen,The Adventures of the Little Prince, and Mobile Suit Gundam it was the best works that he ever with its amazing style with color Sunrise put a lot of effort into it. It had a good soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi with the song Resphoina with its sound effects it was synced very well to tell a story. But it wasn't perfect for a 2-hour movie it try its best to tell a story it wasn't the best it felt dragged out.

The Blu-Ray the video quality is really good giving it a decent light up of color If you are a big fan of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko work it's something to collect.
