This story is about an incident that happened before Bakemonogatari.
On his way to the bookstore, Koyomi Araragi encounters Tsubasa Hanekawa whose face is covered with a bandage. The incident allows Koyomi to learn what has been happening in the Hanekawa household, but Tsubasa begs him not to tell anyone about it, saying she'll do anything to keep him quiet.
Without revealing her family's circumstances, Koyomi tells of the day's incident - he and Tsubasa buried a "cat" that had been hit by a car - to Meme Oshino. Meme tells Koyomi that he must immediately go to confirm Hanekawa's safety. He heads to her house, only to find...
So begins the nightmarish nine days of Golden Week.

Hanekawa Postcard had me speechless!!!

First Reviewer!! Whazzup!! Anyways.. For anyone willing to continue the collection of the Monogatari series, Nekomonogatari is a must. It comes in a sturdy case just like Bakemonogatari does. The only difference is that it contains one arc. The prequel arc to Bakemonogatari. I would just recommend that you watch it in order of release and not chronological. It lacks the Character Commentary but it comes with a postcard set. Two of those are artworks by VOFAN while the other two are taken from the blu-ray cover and the sturdy case that it comes with. Definitely worth the buy and definitely going to keep on buying the rest!

The Monogatari series is and will remain something that must be experienced by any anime fan worth their salt, and Nekomonogatari Black remains a great fusion of all of the best parts of Monogatari as a whole. Even besides the show itself though, Aniplex continues to release quality Blu-Rays. The extra postcards and the booklet are a nice touch, and the character designer doing the art for the packaging adds this pristine quality to the whole package. Definitely worth a buy.

Yeah . . . I don't know where I have been, but I am here now. So, let's have a quick review. The Monogatari series speaks for itself. It's fantastic, and this edition of Nekomonogatari by Aniplex is ALSO fantastic. Not only does it look great on the shelf, the box the show, the art book and the post cards comes in is fairly sturdy, which is nice.
Ther art book and the post cards themselves look fantastic, and are a nice little edition to this collection.
All and all I recommend this product. What can I say. I am pretty sure Aniplex has all of my money at this point. XD
A great anime series that won me over

One of the first purchases I made of the Monogatari series, and became enamored after watching this 4-episode set. Having watched this has convinced me to acquire the entire Monogatari franchise, as the battle Araragi has with 'Sawari-Neko' using 'Apprition Killer' was just a great story.
Due to the high cost, you should make sure this anime is for you before buying. Caught my first glimpse of the show on streaming service awhile ago, and now am purchasing the entire series (slowly over time) because physical BD/DVD are the way to go for me.
Enjoy in 1080p / 16:9 format.
