for this one Miyazaki pulled from his own childhood, a story about the wonders of nature and the imaginations of children. set in 1950s Japan, one of the few Miyazaki used Japan as the back drop. the story of two little girls that move from the city to the country. where they befriend a forest spirit that looks like a mix between a cat and a bear named Totoro. Totoro helps the girls discover the magic around. the girls also have one wish, they want their mom to come home from the hospital.
