My Love Story!! Manga Volume 1

Taking a look at my manga collection, I found a ratio of exactly two male-centric shoujo stories for every eleven female-centric. This is a quite a staggering number; what about us guys who yearn for a slice-of-life?

You have to dig through the plethora of manga on the market to find a spectacularly ordinary story that can whisk you from the confines of your reality, to the hopes, dreams, and desires of someone else. When this occurs, we start to realize how similar we all truly are. Because we have all traipsed through feelings of inferiority or unworthiness at one point or another. These darker times are what make us human; our experiences build us into the complex people who we are. Here, there are brilliant moments brimming with unanticipated optimism, and this series does a truly marvelous job of encapsulating a turning point in Takeo’s life.

If you're a shoujo fan and you love fluffy, earnest, and sweet stories, My Love Story is definitely a manga you should check out! It has lovable, relatable characters, and makes readers smile with every page. It's perfect when you're in the mood for a feel-good series.

My Love Story is a hilarious yet relatable romance that never fails to put you in a happy mood. I've been trying to add more romance in my collection lately, and this was just the series that I needed.

My Love Story! vol. 1 is a rare, delicious cheesecake. It's funny, heartfelt, and a joy to read and re-read! Anyone who is new to manga can appreciate its humor, characters, and story. Long time readers will see how this manga utilizes the cliches of Shojo and deconstructs them as well with some ingenious writing.

Aruko's art is very charming and simplistic. Every character is exactly what they should look like. They are handsome, cute, funny, and at times very determined and detailed (especially Takeo).
Story: 5/5
The real reason to buy this volume is the story. Kazune Kawahara's writing is nothing short of wonderful. It is very natural, cute, dense, and even blunt at times, but nothing short of entertaining and engaging.
Overall, an excellent first volume (one of the best I've read so far), and one that will leave the reader wanting more...and maybe a macaroon too!

Bought this as a single volume and my goodness I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. Need to buy the rest of the series soon, as the messages it conveys is really important.

I loved the anime so much I decided to get the manga and it does not disappoint! The story immediately sucks you in because of the warmth of the characters relationships to each other and you feel that connection poured into every page. There is just so much to love in this shojo! Highly recommended!

Very good pick up - nice story pacing, plenty of humor and you can't help but love the MC.
