Fitting end for a great series

+Some solid 80s space animation
+Even better mechanical designs
+The Universal Century keeps getting more and more interesting
+Riders in the Sky
+The end is shocking and somewhat brutal to first-time viewers
-No japanese openings again, but what can be done

Overall, while the first part of Zeta Gundam had some great moments, the second half nails the feeling of near-endless combat and puts the characters and world through some really tough situations. Combined with a dark but cliffhangery finale, and you have the best possible middle installment the Universal Century could have gotten.

A true classic worthy of the 079 legacy!

You have an unlikable protagonist(well you'll gradually like him as the series develops), a clusterfrack of various opposing dogmas in the background, and the bad guys are now the good and vice versa.

What was Tomino been drinking when he penned this? Btw, I mean it with as a deep a respect I can give the man. Mad genius? Misunderstood/overworked director?

For first time UC fans, you MUST watch Zeta first before ZZ and if you consider " A New Translation", treat it as one that helps tie up the loose ends of the original 50 episode arc( just disregard the ending or else you'll end up like Kamille when you start ZZ arc).

A deep involving story arc that sadly is more of an exception than a rule in most anime today. The pacing is okay in some parts but drags or is too short in others hence a 4 out of 5.
