Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Collection 1 Blu-ray
About Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Collection 1 Blu-ray
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Collection 1 contains episodes 1-25 of the anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino.
The Earth Federation stands victorious, but are they still on the right side?
In Zeta Gundam, we see the future world of the Universal Century through a dark mirror. Having defeated the Zeon menace, the Earth Federation has itself become cruel and oppressive. A new generation of Gundam mobile suits is created not to fight for peace, but to punish the enemies of the state, and yesterday's villains must become today's heroes in order to balance the scales of justice. When a young civilian named Kamille Bidan is caught up in the rebellion, he little suspects the price he will pay in the fight for freedom.

The return of Tomino. Dark and dangerous.

Let's get the one caveat out of the way. Yes, for legal reasons, Rightstuf cannot use the original opening and ending songs. Yes, this is a shame as they were some superb pieces of Anime music that really, really fit the visuals. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed in the future (And please remember, it's legality. I know the distributors would have loved to have kept the ops/eds in as they were originally made, but legally they can't). Luckily, it is replaced with music from the show itself, rather that some poorly made Western music. My only other complaint is the use of English credits over the original animation, rather than using the original Japanese with an English scroll at the end. (as they used in Turn A and Mobile Suit Gundam). But otherwise, this is a top notch, sharp looking Blu Ray presentation. Top notch work from Tomino, again.
Great transfer - One of Japan's #1 animes even today

When you watch Gundam Zeta there are a few things to remember. Mobile Suit Gundam is very old and can be hard to watch in this day and age, however Zeta does little handholding and explanation. Knowing the original chars/story goes a /long/ way as most the original chars make appearances. There are the Titans, a sub group of the EFSF (Earth Federation Space Forces), Aeug (Anti-Earth Union Group). The Titans have a gajillion mobile suits, but most start out as hi-zacks, hi-mobility zakus, earth using variants on the Zeon side of things can be confusing at first.
A genuine classic

The Blu-ray release is AWESOME. The colors pop and the little details are noticeable to me for the first time ever.
The subtitles seem to be subtly rewritten from the Bandai Anime Legends DVD release for the better.
Such a shame that the original OP/ED songs can't be used without paying hefty licensing fees.
Looks great on Blu-ray

The PQ and AQ are great. It's also a good series in the Gundam franchise.
Good release

The transfer is good and contain film grain with out losing fine details.
Too bad they could not get the original op/ed.
Overall good release worth for every agundam fans.
Better on Bluray!

Zeta kicks off the second part of Tominos original Gundam trilogy of series. This one starts of following Camille, the introduction of the Titans and AEUG, and the continuing conflict between the Federation and Zeon.
I have the original Bandai DVD release of the series and the Bluray is a beautiful release for this series. The cleanup was amazing and the colors are so much better. I had no problems with double dipping for this. If you had the Bandai DVDs before, get the Bluray, its definitely an upgrade!
It may be lacking in specials for some, but honestly I hardly ever watch the specials on the disc so this wasn't a problem for me. The only time I have was the Syd Mead interview on Turn A Gundams DVD, and the specials on Gantz.
First Half Of A Master Piece

What else can I say that hasn't been said about this series. Personally, I love this collection as I'm loving the quality of the episodes.
The only "non-positive" thing I can say about this is that I wish it included some more extras other than the openings, but that's just the fan in me.
Do yourself a favor and purchase this if your a fan of Gundam.
Mobile Suit Gundam Improved
by Michael
Zeta Gundam is everything that Mobile Suit Gundam was, but better. This is hands down the best UC Gundam series ever made. I don't believe it will ever be eclipsed, largely because Tomino has never done anything nearly as great since.
Kamille Bidan is my second favorite Gundam pilot of all time (only behind Heero Yuy), and his hardships and what he goes through are unparalleled to any other Gundam pilot. If you have a heart, you will feel for these characters by the time the story ends.
Best HD Transfer I have seen. Worth 100%
by Icr
This is simply one of the best HD transfers I have seen. The image is so crisp and the quality is beyond amazing. This makes the experience so rewarding on top of the fact that is an Universal Century Timeline Gundam show, which that on its own is guaranteed greatness.
UC Timeline for the win!

Bummed to not have the original opening music, that song SLAPS! It looks great and is my favorite Gundam series hands down. It’s brutal. The English dub sounds stupid, so watch it with subtitles for a better experience.
