About Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo Blu-Ray Collection

Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo Complete Collection contains episodes 1-9 of the anime directed by Takashi Imanishi.

Universal Century 0079. With the outbreak of the One Year War, the Principality of Zeon seeks new weapons and technology to counter the numerical advantage of the powerful Earth Federation.

For this purpose, Zeon assembles some of its finest engineers and officers to form the 603rd Technical Evaluation Unit, stationing them aboard the converted civilian vessel Jotunheim. Their mission is to test new prototype weapons, from long-range artillery, to tanks, to mobile pods.

The crew of the Jotunheim evaluate these experimental weapons with care as they are drawn ever closer to the battlefront. But when the Federation begins its counteroffensive, surpassing Zeon's mobile suits with its development of the Gundam and the mass-produced GM, even more devastating new weapons are needed.

Bear witness to a side of the One Year War that until now has been shrouded in secrecy.

Special features: Clean openings and closings.

CGI GUNDAM

Some of the best stories of Gundam, done in CGI. The Blu ray 3 set comes with ALL of Igloo and looks amazing

A nice mini series but...

This is a unique view of the One year war, with the small tales, and 9 episodes, following characters from both sides of the war. I was impressed with the episodes, especially the Gravity Front series.

However, with these 9 episodes, I personally think this might be a bit pricey. If you really want to see the series, I would recommend the DVD version of this series.

Better than expected!

In my never ending quest to collect and catch up on all of the Gundam set in the Universal Century timeline/universe, I wasn't so sure about this one as its commonly listed as 'don't watch' on "What to watch of MSG" lists.

The stories in Igloo are fairly entertaining/varied, taking place during the One Year War like other one off stories (War in The Pocket, 08th MS Team); the first half mainly from the Zeon perspective. The show does use exclusively CGI animation that is definitely a product of its time (kind of looks like CGI in old Resident Evil games), but in despite of that kept me fairly engaged by the stories throughout. The sign of a good story for me is when an author can make care about its characters.

The only strange parts are a few oddly transitioned scene 'techniques' that made me laugh out loud but perhaps were meant to be serious, hard to say and really the only reason I knocked a star off of the production work itself.
