Never a big fan of the Gundam franchise, but really loved this series. Will definitely be adding the Blu-ray to my collection.

One of the best in the Gundam series.

One of the best Gundam series ever made, it definitely has a place in everyone's top 3. This is essentially Gundam with a few pages taken from "Romeo & Juliet" and is noted for its high level of "realism" as applied to the series. At only 12 episodes, this is what you want to watch for a 0079 experience without having to sit through the goofiness and horrible art of the original. It also contains what many regard as the best fight scene of the entire UC. And the dub is top notch to boot.
Should also note, Episode 3 contains some sort of animation glitch/error at roughly 18:45. If you check out the old US DVD release, Karen's mouth moves for her line and then her eyes move towards the left side of the screen. The blu-ray has this as a jumpcut; Karen speaks but her mouth doesn't move, and then her eyes are suddenly looking to her right. This isn't RightStuf's fault however, it's in the Japanese Blu-Ray as well but not in the old US DVD release.
A nice expanded story in the Gundam UC universe

This was one of my favorite series of the Gundam franchise. I personally watched the first viewing on Adult Swim when it first aired back in the early 2000's. With both inciting action and a sub plot reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet (without the Shakespeare dialogue and overall ending), this would be a good series to pick up AFTER you watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam
08th MS Team

When it comes to Gundam, you expect newtypes, space battles, and some nicely built mechs. 08th MS Team however focuses on Ace Pilots, Guerrilla Warfare, and Replacing missing parts with uneven ones on mobile suits. This OVA portrays as accurate as war can be and how it affects from the soldiers perspective.
My favourite side story for UC0079 and now in Blu Ray

The Blu Ray overhaul looks absolutely amazing, breaths new life into one of the greatest Gundam side stories ever made! A Must have for Gundam fans!
A Must Have For Anime Fans
by Cesar M. -
Within 12 episodes, this OVA greatly shows characters growth through their situation touching upon love, attempting to reach one’s dream, and the meaning behind fighting in a war. All done without mismanaging its tone finding a fine line between war drama, and the sillier comedic moments. This is a side story making it an easy gateway point for anyone interested. Of course, alongside the usual story it balances nicely with nice mecha battles one would expect.
Transfers for this twelve episode OVA series is presented in its original aspect ratio. The color’s here retain the natural grain of the source material. The encoding brings it to life well with solid color fields that are problem free and no visible cross coloration or line noise of note throughout. Audio is nicely balanced between vocal performances from the Japanese, and the English dub cast with the sound effects.
The special features, and the recap film are solely lacking in being anything enticing.
Best Gundam series on bluray!

Even before watching this release, 08th MS Team was one of my favorite Gundam series, if not anime series of all time. This bluray release is nothing less than perfect. The visuals and the audio come together to make the perfect package. This is definitely a must own for any Gundam fan or anime fan looking to get into the world of Gundam.
The best that Gundam has to offer
by Chad -
When it comes to Gundam the 08th MS team simply is top dog.
It is a must own for all real Gundam fans and a must watch for anyone wanting to get into the Gundam series.
Its Blu-Ray release is almost identical to that of Gundam 0083. Its a 3 tray Blu-Ray case. The audio is great and comes with excellent dubbing. The video is nice and detailed but it's still got the block bars on the side just like the 0083 release.
The story is great with a solid cast of characters. One of the best things about 08th MS team is the combat. The action in this is some of the best when it comes to Gundam. I absolutely love the gorilla warfare depicted in this series.
I cannot praise this series enough. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
One of the best UC Gundam Series
by GEORGE C
Essentially, it's Romeo & Juliet in a Gundam setting. It's mostly ground combat on planet Earth, and there isn't as much of the Newtype subplot as there was in the earlier UC Gundam series.
The characters are a bit more realistic than the norm for Gundam and you won't see as many superhumans. The ground combat can be brutal and there's hardly a Gundam that is left "stock." These are NOT the super-powerful mecha you see in the AU Gundam shows.
The animation was generally excellent but can't say the music had much of an impact on me. It had a very poppish theme song but nothing particularly stuck with me like the music of Gundam Wing did. That's probably one of the weaker points of an otherwise excellent series.
This Blu ray release has the advantage of EVERYTHING being available in the package including Miller's Report which summarizes the series and adds some background info.

If you're a Gundam fan like me, I highly recommend this show. I loved it as a kid watching it on Toonami and I still love it as an adult. The art and color look great! This is from the golden days when anime wasn't enhanced too much with computers and still looked hand-drawn. The show looks amazing in HD and has aged just fine.
One of the best Gundam series

This is in my top 3 of Gundam series and I think it is the one of the best entry level series to recommend to others. The blu-ray takes a series that already looked great and makes it better. The inclusion of the Miller's Report movie adds to an already great package. I was all too happy to replace my old DVD copy with this new version.
Slow buildup but every episode builds up to an explosive finale. Loved this years ago and it's also a great rewatch. Animation is still beautiful.
