Im a huge history nerd, that just graduated with a history degree and Urasawa is literally taking my money with such great release! Master Keaton really stands out, due to its episodic storytelling. Each story is fast-paced, but rich in culture and history. One thing that impressed me right away is Urasawa's insane amount of research. He goes into great detail about different ethnic groups, religions, political factions, cultural landmarks and artwork, archaeology, and life survival skills, among many other subjects. The cover design is an added bonus that implements great color scheme with gold lettering that just makes it stand out in your collection.

Don't get me wrong this is not a boring history lesson rather, it implements good story telling with adventure, action, and tragedy. MUST COP!!!

Great Story, But Not For Everyone

Master Keaton is a mixed bag of short stories, some which are great and some that are just alright. That said, it's clearly aimed towards those that have an interest in history, art, different cultures, and just details in general. You're going to be pronouncing, or skimming, a bit of foreign languages at times: names, locations, etc. But don't let that turn you away on it's own. I found it a little frustrating, but the recurring characters (Keaton and his family) continuously brought me back to loving the story.

I hear that Urasawa picks up on the writing about half way through the series, so I'm really looking forward to that.
