About Maquia When The Promised Flower Blooms DVD

Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms is an anime film from director Mari Okada.

The people of Iorph live far away from the lands of men, weaving the happenings of each day into a fabric called Hibiol. They live for centuries while maintaining their youthful appearance. Maquia, an orphaned Iorph girl, lives in an oasis surrounded by friends, yet somehow feels alone. But the tranquil lives of the Iorph are shattered in an instant when the Mezarte army invades their territory on a dragon fleet, seeking the blood that grants the Iorph long life. Maquia manages to escape, but loses her friends and her home in the chaos. She then encounters an orphaned baby who is also alone. Maquia raises this boy, Ariel, with the help of some new friends. But as the era changes, the bond between Maquia and Ariel changes too, amidst a backdrop of racial tensions between the Iorph and the Mezarte. This is a story of irreplaceable time, woven by two lonely people who can only find solace in each other.

An Absolute Masterpiece

A decades-spanning story about love and loss, Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms is a must watch. I saw this film in theatres when it first premiered in the US, and the ending brought me to tears. With an equally moving soundtrack, Maquia deserves a spot on the shelf of any anime fan who likes emotional storytelling.

Get this anime now!!! You won't regret it

This anime is amazing it makes me want to cry. The meaning of what it means to be a mother. What can i say more it was like violet evergarden. I recommend this to anyone. It is clean it is heart warming.

No Japanese audio.

One of the best films ever watched, but this is just the English dub. There's no Japanese language option

For People Who Want A Sub-Only Format!

This criminally-overlooked film is beautifully executed visually, with a wonderful Kenji Kawaii soundtrack. Both heart-warming and heart-wrenching--often at the same time--this is a powerful drama. BUT--the DVD only gives you the English dub: advise you get the Blu-Ray for sub and dub!
