In the small village of Amun lives a poor boy named Theo. Theo adores books, but because of his pointed ears and impoverished life, he isn’t allowed to use the village library. As he endures the prejudice and hatred of the village, he dreams of going where such things don’t exist: Aftzaak, City of Books. But one day, Theo chances to meet a Kafna—a librarian who works for the great library of Aftzaak—and his life changes forever…

Excellent Read

A really good book. It has very entertaining characters and an interesting story plot. If you wanted to get a child into reading this book might help with that in my opinion as it covers much of the joy being a bookworm. And the art within this book is just fantastic. The backgrounds of city and forest are breathtakingly beautiful as well as the attention to the small details at times.

Relatable, Gorgeous, Enthralling, and Addictive

The only thing that makes me sad about this series is the fact that I now have to wait 4 months for the next volume to come out. You can get an idea of the plot through the description above, so I'll put it this way - if you're a devoted bookworm, you're going to have a lot of "yeah, I totally get that" moments. The art is superb in each book, and each chapter expertly adds to either character development, plot, and/or world lore. It's clear that this is will be a long series following a classic hero's arc, but through the first three volumes at least, it's not particularly action-focused. If you're looking for huge explosions and severely OP magic, you're going to need to look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a great story that leaves you wanting more, likable characters you can identify with & root for, and a great read overall I can't recommend this series highly enough. I really hope it does well since I don't want the publishers to drop it before it reaches its conclusion!
