About Lupin the 3rd Vs Detective Conan The Movie DVD

Lupin the 3rd Vs Detective Conan The Movie is a sequel to the crossover special, and Lupin III once again faces off against the tiny genius Conan Edogawa. The stakes have never been higher.

They say it takes a thief to catch a thief, but the world's greatest detective begs to differ! An unknown enemy has kidnapped Fujiko, and the only way for Lupin to save her is by stealing a certain jewel.

Meanwhile, Fujiko isn't the only one in danger, as a popular Italian singer receives a note that promises to take his life. It's up to Conan Edogawa to get to the bottom of the mystery, but these two tales have more in common than it might seem! Who is really playing who, and who will come out ahead of the game?

Pretty good for a crossover, but not the best.

First of all, watch this movie second, after the TV special. I thought that they were separate films, but by the last third of the movie, there’s callbacks and plot points from the previous film. The first two thirds stood mostly on their own, but that last part confused me. Regardless, this movie is pretty good, while a bit off at first. It was weird seeing these 2 different properties interact with each other, but by the end it worked. Both designs took some time to get used to and Lupin’s more comedy based style didn’t quite mesh with Conan’s more serious style. But you do get a nice variety of both. You get Lupin’s comedy and action, and Conan’s detective work and heroics. Plus the music takes notes from both and combines them nicely. But in the end, it felt more like a Lupin film. You don’t need to know everything about both properties to understand and appreciate this, but it is good to know a decent amount of them, especially Conan’s side.
