About Lupin the 3rd The Secret of Twilight Gemini Blu-ray

Lupin the 3rd The Secret of Twilight Gemini is an anime film directed by Gisaburō Sugii.

The Twilight diamond's rock-solid secret is about to be cracked.

As Lupin's mentor Don Dolune Lies on his deathbed, he hands the master thief a gift: the diamond named Twilight. But it's only half of the treasure-the other half of the Twilight can be found in Morocco. But it's not as simple as "X marks the spot" when a civil uprising is broiling between two factions in this desert paradise. Lupin must contend with his sometimes-partner Fujiko, his feelings for the gorgeous brunette Lara, and on top of it all, the relentless whip-wielding maniac Sadachiyo.

Like Webster’s Dictionary, Lupin is Morocco-Bound!

“The Secret of Twilight Gemini” marks my first time watching one of the Lupin the 3rd tv specials and I think that it’s a solid piece of work for its time. The plot is a laidback Indiana Jones-style affair with its primary setting recalling both “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Last Crusade.” However, I should warn that there are problematic gay depictions, especially in regards to the main villain’s whip-wielding associate. Good thing that the Blu-ray includes linear notes to help place the portrayal in historical context.

Great Lupin movie

Indiana jones style lupin the 3rd adventures in Morocco. Lots of fun and reminds me when anime focused on being good instead of focusing on people's feelings.

The special is a 3.5/5 and the release itself is a 4.5/5

Out of all the Lupin series and movies I’ve seen, this is my least favorite so far. There just wasn’t enough to keep my attention. There’s alot of exposition and not enough action. I found my mind wandering and getting a bit bored a couple times throughout. It does have it’s moments and it’s not bad, it’s just an average Lupin special. Lupin has 2 different dubs with one having Sonny Strait as Lupin and the other having Tony Oliver. This one is the former. While I do like both sets of voice actors and thought that they did a good job with this dub, I like the other dub crew more. I just feel like they fit the characters more. What I liked about this release is that they included the censored version that Funimation released back in the day as well. It was interesting to see what scenes were shortened or left out and what was digitally painted in. Also the liner notes that described different aspects around the release and history was interesting as well. Not bad but not my favorite.
