Good Anime - Terrible Box Set

by -

Aniplex is always overpriced with little to show for it when it comes to their box sets and special editions, I swallow my pride because I'm a collector and Fate is one of my most favorite franchises. But this is one of the worst and the one I regret the most. The box is flimsy and the booklet is super cheap, with nothing else to really show for itself.

Even compared to Aniplex's other products, like Fate/Extra Last Encore, which is the same price for a similar number of episodes and comes with an art booklet as well. While still overpriced, that set at least has a higher quality box and booklet than this set.

Please Read!

Yes this boxset is made with low Quality... I think about the point and the point of this set is that we are getting an english dub for this... I did not think that we would be getting.. but to my surprise Aniplex came through and got it done even with Covid-19... they did not have to give us a dub for this as it is not a part of the “main series” so please fellow rightstuf users let’s support this as I’ve heard there will be a 2nd season in Japan and Aniplex will be looking out to see if we are supporting this before paying more on a dub that we are down rating and not buying, so let’s consider this and let them know about the problems on rightstuf and aniplex’s Twitter and the quality of the box is not the show so please let’s voice that there and rate it as a series, and IMO it does well at! this is a great addition to the lineup as there’s plenty of depth in the characters and the setting! this is a great new spin on the already great formula that is Fate!

Aniplex cuts costs but keeps price high. C'mon

by -

This review is based on the physical contenets of the package.

Aniplex has managed to mess almost everything up with this release. Well almost everything.

At this price point flimsy cardboard is unacceptable and that's exactly what you get

They have also doubled down on the oversized 3 disc case that just looks bad.

The only posative seems to be that aniplex has indeed swap the location of the glue strip on the peotect plastic from the flap to the body making it much easier to return the release to it's plastic.

At this price point aniplex shouldn't be finding every little place they can cut costs they are already priced exponential higher than the competition. If you want to be the collectors anime company then make collectors products otherwise lower your prices. This release is at best worth 1/2 of what they are pricing it at.

Hopefully they don't mess this all up again with the next fate release.

A New Perspective

by -

My review will be on the show not Aniplex's prices

This show is a very compelling look at the world of Fate/Stay Night from a new perspective that allows for some of the more mysterious elements of the world to be fleshed out, such as the Clocktower. There is a diverse cast of likable characters, a fitting soundtrack and the animation is as good as ever. Tonally it feels like a blend of more traditional magical adventures and logic based mystery novels. However, since you may not be familiar with all of the intricacies of the world's lore it can be difficult to make the deductions yourself alongside the show. It should be noted that the show more or less serves as a sequel to Fate Zero and does a good job of showing how those events helped to shape some of the characters in this show. Overall, I would say that this show does exactly what a good spin off should do which is offer a completely new and unique experience, while still honoring and taking influence from the original work.
