About Log Horizon Collection 1 Blu-ray

Log Horizon Collection 1 contains episodes 1-13.

Elder Tales has become a global phenomenon, immersing millions of players in its online fantasy world. However, something goes wrong with the twelfth expansion pack. Eight-year veteran Shiroe and 30,000 other players suddenly find themselves trapped in the game's no-longer-fictional universe!

Except it's not even exactly the game they knew: things are in different places, the portals don't work, and if a gamer was playing an avatar who wasn't a physical match for their real self... well, let's just say that everyone who's been playing is going to have to make some serious adjustments to their new world view.

On top of that, the former Non-Player-Characters are now self-aware and working towards their own ends. This collision of the Elder Tale people and players with seemingly impossible skills, abilities, and knowledge promises to be cataclysmic. Get ready for heroes to rise and new legends to be forged as Shiroe and fellow players Naotsugu and Akatsuki discover what happens when sword and sorcery becomes real!

great series

by -

There are many series which try to do the scenario of real people thrown into a game world, but Log Horizon is one of the few that does it right and in an original way. Strong story built around solid characters which are interesting to follow as they learn that the "game world" may have much larger ramifications and not as much of a game world as they initially thought.

As a bonus, the series does cover a lot of the social issues found within any MMO. Viewers who have played MMO's especially in raiding guilds and/or in pvp will recognize the insights regarding player sociology and psychology. Even if you never played an MMO, many of the explanations provided helpful and won't end up lost, and maybe even understand something about people they know who play MMO's.

One of the best shows I have seen in a long time.

This show gave me hope that anime can be good again and not just one harem show after another. This show has it all comedy, political intrigue, action good characters, suspense. I will admit it does get a little slow in the middle. Despite that this show quickly became my favorite.

I love this show

Better than Sword Art Online for all the right reasons

When it comes to anime I'm looking for likable characters, humor, and a plot of more than just bash the monsters. I ignored Log Horizon at first as yet another "stuck in the game" anime. I enjoyed SOA but didn't think I would care for a story with a similar plot. Later on I gave it another chance and it has become one of my all time favorites. Log Horizon takes a bigger picture look at the people and the MMORPG based world where they find themselves trapped. There are more enemies and challenges than just monsters, and triumphing over them typically takes teamwork with brains, brawn, and beauty being supplied by various players. Humor and friendships abound and while there is plenty of general romantic interest in the story the harem trope is avoided. I appreciated the absence of gratuitous or pandering fan service. Graphics are excellent and the music enjoyable enough me to actually bother looking up the sources.
