About The Limit Manga Volume 1

The Limit volume 1 features story and art by Keiko Suenobu.

Mizuki Konno is your typical high school junior at Yanno Prefectural High School. Like many teens her age, she is studying hard for college and when she has some downtime she likes to fuss over fashion and make-up. While she may not be one of the class elites, Mizuki is fortunate to be on the right side of her class's idols. But that might not settle well with those who are in a similar academic status but not so lucky with their social lives.

Mizuki has determined in her diary who is a "have" and who is a "have not." The diary is discovered before a class fieldtrip and tensions are now at new heights. Fights may soon break out - and ironically they will come from those "meek and helpless" figures who supposedly have no friends or future. But all this is supplanted when tragedy strikes in the form of a traffic accident and the class is split into two new groups: the living and the dead!

Ordinary is appealing.

by

Limit accomplishes something a lot of survival manga attempt to do and fail at, that is maintaining the attention of the reader. It doesn't rely on extravagant premises to be appealing, it thrives in its ordinariness. The same goes for the characters and the art, the way Suenobu presents them within the setting is very eye catching. There's not a moment where I did not know what was going on.

If you enjoy the genre, but wish for a little more in the seriousness department this is for you.

When Bullying Goes Too Far- A Great Look Into The Wars Of Cliques

by -

I really enjoyed this story because it gave a realistic view of the cruelty in high-school- which results from the segregation through different cliques, or groups- and the stigma left on the outcast who often is bullied and neglected emotionally, causing mental distress and low self-esteem issues. I thought it was a dramatic and exciting idea to turn the situation into a survival of the fittest scenario, where the bullied victim was now given the upper-hand. I got to see how far a person will go when they become emotionally and mentally unstable from abuse and are given power in an isolated environment, where adults are nonexistent to step in and calm the storm down. At the end of this first volume I was left in suspense and eager to read the next volume in the series. I recommend this manga to those who enjoy a little realism, drama, and analysis into a bullied teen's psyche.

Survival over drama

by -

This series is solid from being so simple yet so arresting. There are lots of "Lord of the Flies" survival stories of schoolkids, but this one just cuts down to bare bones for a short series of kids trying to make it until they can find help. There's just enough madness and calm to keep the story moving but never too frantic, even when they add a new twist. This just really is asking some very normal kids, who are you in a crisis, who can you count on.
