About Legend of Bruce Lee Volume 1 DVD

Legend of Bruce Lee volume 1 contains episodes 1-10.

Young Bruce Lee (Danny Chan) has no interest in studying and is obsessed with martial arts. After losing a street fight, he resolves to master kung fu under the tutelage of Master Ye Wen. Targeted by street gangs after standing up for the weak, Bruce has no other option but to leave Hong Kong for a strange and far off land: America. At the University of Washington Bruce starts teaching martial arts and befriends an American girl named Linda (Michelle Lang). An extraordinary performance at a national karate championship launches Bruce, his film career, and his kung fu school on the path to international renown.

A Poorly Localized Legend

The Legend of Bruce Lee tv show is not what I was expecting, and that didn't work in the show's favor. In the first ten episodes you can see the cast figure out what they are doing. You also get to see a politically correct version of Bruce Lee's youth. It's presented in a soap operatic style that isn't very appealing, though some of the martial arts exhibition works. All that aside, my main disappointment was the lack of a language option other than english dub. This wasn't originally recorded for english speaking audiences, so the voices are locked in an orientation that doesn't match.
