About Ladies Versus Butlers Complete Collection DVD

This Ladies versus Butlers complete collection contains episodes 1-12.

Hino Akiharu lost his parents when he was young, and was adopted into his uncle's family. When he noticed that his uncle is after his inheritance, he decides to enter the Hakureiryou boarding school. Akiharu is placed in the school's new servant-training department, where students are taught to be maids and butlers. However, his delinquent appearance frightens the girls, who make up the majority of the students.

Unable to get along with his classmates, Akiharu meets his childhood girlfriend Saikyou Tomomi and finds himself stuck in the middle of the school's bickering cliques!

A fun, quirky, and very ecchi harem show--Review Part 1 on content

by -

This is a quirky, ecchi (risqué) romp of a harem comedy that I first viewed via streaming in its censored form and to which I looked forward to finally getting in disc form with its titillating character artwork restored from censorship; and in that respect, this release is a success. The numerous females in the show disrobe frequently and fully, so breasts and nipples and buttocks feature prominently. This show is not raunchy, but opportunities for the main character to accidentally view or fall upon (or be fallen upon by) the females around him are innumerable. The character designer for this show, Akio Takami, also designed the characters for Upotte!! and for Kanokon, among others, and the pleasant roundedness of his characters, even the less physically developed ones, is a strong draw for my interest. The few male characters, like the females, are varied in their designs and also not unattractive.

A fun, quirky, and very ecchi harem show--Review Part 2 on technical

I specifically bought the DVD version of this show so that I would have the flexibility of being able to watch this risqué show on either my laptop for discretion or on my big TV when I have privacy. On my LG Blu-ray player connected to my big TV, these DVD-R discs (with purple backs) play just fine, but neither my Mac laptop (with its DVD Player app or VLC or MPlayerX, etc.) nor my portable region-free Sony DVD player can read these discs, and that fact is disappointing. I _can_ play these discs just fine on a friend's Windows 7 laptop using the PowerDVD 12 app, but that isn't always convenient. My DVD-R discs of Media Blasters' Yosuga no Sora from a year ago play just fine on my Mac laptop, so I'm uncertain just what changed in Media Blasters' production process to throw off my viewing intentions.

A fun, quirky, and very ecchi harem show--Review Part 3 on voice and subtitles

by -

The original Japanese voice actors for this show are very enjoyable to listen to, featuring such great talents as Ayako Kawasumi, Mai Nakahara, and Rie Kugimiya, for example. However, the subtitles on these discs need greatly improved proofreading. The most distracting errors are not even the grammatical ones, but rather those in plot logic and in consistency. One character, for example, plays as the opposite sex but is addressed by title incorrectly when the person's secret still holds. Another character, who has an admittedly difficult name to transliterate between English and Japanese, has her name presented inconsistently and never in accordance with the English credits.

The English dub is actually quite good, headlined by one of my favorite English voice actresses, Carrie Savage, and seems appropriately cast and well acted for the primary and many of the secondary roles.

Just the thing when you don't want to think.

I quite enjoyed this series. It is not serious, not great art. It is however fun, light hearted, just the thing when you need to relax, don't want to think about your day, and don't want to think about anything serious. it is ecchi. One problem with the dvd's is that they do not have any of the specials.
