Quite an improvement over the Funimation release!

by -

OK, so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Discotek/Eastern Star rescued this show from the clutches of Funimation. Furthermore, all indications lead to a possible release of the remaining 51 episodes to complete the series release in North America. And all in glorious Blu-Ray!!!

I was quite pleased to discover that this re-release reinstated the original opening credits with "7 O'Clock News" by Tokio included. I could not understand why Funimation was unable to secure the rights to this song. But those of you who own the original Funimation DVD release can finally rejoice as you can now replace it with this!

I believe fans of "Kodomo no Omocha" will be pleased with this rescue and re-release! It's a vast improvement over the original Funimation release! Don't sit on your hands; get it now!!!

Finally Kodocha is done right! A fun show that still provides!

A great set! I had previously purchased the original Funimation release of Kodacha with the 7:00 news and other music stings cut. What a terrible experience that was. I had watched the first 30 episodes in fan subs and fallen in love with this show, and that original DVD set made me hate the show. The timing was all off in the early episodes especially! Now the Right Stuff Kodocha box has put it back together correctly! Tokyo's theme song sets the pace for this show and the music is very important! The subtitles for the Japanese audio are very good and do a good job of capturing Zenjiro's colloquialisms. The rapid fire dialogue can be hard to read but fortunately it is done thoughtfully not to overburden the screen, but still gives enough to be effective. The Subtitles are FAR superior to that old release! I hope season 2 is coming soon!

Finally got a piece of my childhood

by -

Honestly this anime was my childhood. And just pure genius. The way that the subs were put in actually reminded me of how it was back then with it being yellow and just easy to read. This dvd set covers the first half of the anime (aka the season that actually got dubbed) and when they were in elementary school. And honestly I had forgotten how much the female lead annoyed me until I watched it again and she grew to me. Though I really just watched the show to see Rei. If this show was part of your childhood, I definitely recommend it! Especially since from what I know the manga is out of print now... So getting the anime Blu-ray/dvd is the next best option.

A treasure

I was surprised to find out about the announcement of Kodocha on blu-ray. As an avid fan, I have no complaints on my part. I love Kodocha! I am happy to revisit this. I had no expectations the first time watching it, and this anime grew on me from being so funny to relatable and comforting. It's a childhood favorite. If you're interested in silly rap songs, 90s humor, deep storytelling, and delving into complex characters - then I suggest you give this anime a try! I purchased this for the sweet nostalgia and quality - it holds up. I have the DVD version, both seasons 1 and 2 from SAVE. There are improvements with the blu-ray, the resolution is brighter and the mixing is great. And I was surprised to see the infamous 7 o'clock opening since I have been used to the Ultra Relax song. Without a doubt, happy to have this in its entirety. I will be on the lookout for season 2!
