About King of the Labyrinth Novel Volume 1 (Hardcover)

King of the Labyrinth Novel Volume 1 was written by Shien Bis and illustrated by Noriko Meguro.

Within the tenth-floor boss room of the Sazardon Labyrinth, the mighty minotaur awakens once more. Unlike its predecessors, slain at the hands of treasure-seeking adventurers, this monster’s primal urges push it further than ever before. Kill. Consume. Grow stronger. The more powerful its opponent, the more powerful it becomes. Even the very rules of the labyrinth seem to bend to its indomitable will. Can none triumph against this bovine behemoth? Will the minotaur ever meet its match…?

Interesting

Not exactly sure how to describe this series. The moment I saw Yen Press announce this LN, my interest was immediately peaked. I'm glad I bought it, it was a very different and interesting read although I enjoyed the minotaur parts more then the human ones.

One this that surprised be was the book itself, I didn't realize how skinny it was. I doesn't have and illustrations inside either, that doesn't really matter to me, but I think it would have been cool. I don't think this series was worth the hardback treatment, but I did enjoy the book so I guess it's a 4/5 for me

A Unique Take on a Familiar Genre

by -

I have read dozens of stories in the style of dungeons, adventurers leveling up, growing stats, etc., but this story was definitely one of a kind for me. Frankly, it's difficult for me to describe this story because I can only think of it in terms of all of the traditional storytelling devices of this genre that it ignores, but I feel sharing those differences would take the excitement away from reading it for the first time. As such, I'll simply say that I greatly enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. Although that might not be such a big accomplishment considering it's rather short at only 192 pages, which I consider it's main flaw. Personally I'm giving it 5 stars because of how much I loved the uniqueness, but I think many people who haven't read this genre to death like me would give it 4 stars on its own merit.
