The final goodbye is not very satisfying

Finally the final volume! I can remember when I first started this series back in high school and how much I enjoyed this shoujo: with all the drama, the "will they wont they moments", and the hurry up and get together your tearing apart my soul anxiety and now it's over which, is terribly sad. I must say goodbye to these characters but before I do I want to know how their lifes play out. Jobs, marriage, kids, hobbies, do they all stay friends? I burnt with the desire to know this but this volume does not deliver. All they do is say goodbye to each other as they leave for their various colleges and besides one chapter (in which something is implied) I feel like this could have been condensed into one chapter and stuck onto the end of volume 29. It didn't have that emotional edge that most of the other volumes had (I barely teared up on the last two pages). And it didn't answer any of my burning questions. It just ends, with their futures wide open and unknown and I hate that.
