An anime for all ages...16+

by -

I really like Kill la Kill. It's funny, it's smart and it's different. Some people will only see fan service and be turned off by the show when really it's a parody of magical girls, slice of life, and school life anime. Aniplex may be the releaser, but the price was reasonable for a LE. I highly recommend this, but remember that it is rated 16+ for a reason! The box is wonderful by the way!

Great show, fantastic release

by -

Kill la Kill is easily in my top 5 Anime of all time. It has everything I want – attractive character designs, a fun, off the way story, fantastic music, and some of the most beautiful animation, with hand painted backgrounds to be seen in a recent Anime.

The LE set comes with the first OST, which is the original music versions. A later LE provides a remix version of many tracks. The music is great, and fits the show’s tempo and feel perfectly.

Audio and video quality is impeccable. Japanese language is my preference, but I spot check the English dub and both are well done. Subtitle quality is spot on, well timed and well formatted.

Aniplex offers Japanese quality releases to the NA market, and what you have here is nothing short of fantastic.

The only thing the US release lacks that the Japanese set had was some great art books and drama CDs.

To save some money, if you just want the show, grab the standard edition.

These early episodes start with a bang!

by -

These first few episodes of Kill la Kill are absolutely crazy! Here we get to know Ryuko as she meets Senketsu, settles into Honnouji Academy, and starts her rivalry with student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin. The Blu-ray presentation is excellent, but the box itself is a bit flimsy. This is not a heavy chipboard box, but it still looks good on my shelf. Highly recommended for anyone who likes action, a bit of fan service, and really strong female characters who can kick some serious villain butt!

Great product, lackluster packaging.

by -

First thing, the packing is a type of high quality cardstock and some what disappointing. It is beautifully printed though. The blurays themselves also have some nice art unique to each disc. This is true for the entire set. The picture and sound are fantastic and there seems to be a little extra detail added in to some scenes after the original airing. This show is a dose of chaotic fun with one badass soundtrack. Lots of fan service that will you will either a) stop noticing as the plot finally kicks in and explains said fan service or b) be annoyed by and be unable to buy into the reason they give as to why it is there. Also included are some small posters, a random trading card, and some beautifully printed postcards. I recommend this to fans of Gainax, magic girl shows, and anyone looking to see shonen tropes toyed around with in ways that make your head spin.

Amazing anime, overpriced and slightly lacking edition

by -

Kill la Kill is among the best anime out there and definitely a necessity to own, but it's unfortunate that this limited edition is so overpriced. The physical quality of this release is what makes it questionably worthwhile and 4 stars. The extras are limited to postcards and a poster (inevitably creased to fit in the box), which both have fantastic art but are lacking when compared to other limited editions. My biggest qualm is the box itself, which is made of less than sturdy cardboard which more often than not will arrive with bends due to normal handling and the constricting plastic wrap (unlike the beautiful, sturdy boxes of Funimation LEs) But on the good side of things, the video quality is phenomenal and the settings are great, allowing you to toggle audio and subtitles independently. The bluray cases are great and once again, all of the art is fantastic.

I have some gripes, but in the end I'm a proud owner of the Kill la Kill Limited Edition collection.

Good product, Great Series, but very overpriced.

The Set is for the most part good, though in a personal opinion quite over priced for an anime set with only 4 episodes. But it’s not much more the standard edition so it all depend on how much you’re willing to drop into an anime. The cover is relatively sturdy with cool images of Ryuko and Satsuki on it. Plus, the post cards are great to put on you wall. My only real complaint is the Double sided poster. This is stupid and I wish companies would stop making these and just spend a few extra cents to print both images on separate posters. That way we wouldn’t have to choose one. As far as the CD goes, well I’d prefer it if the songs weren’t remixes but no big deal. All in all, it’s a good product and a great series but I wish it was cheaper or had more episodes. At the moment it all depends if you’re willing to put in extra money for the art and remix CD otherwise just go with the standard edition unless there happens to be a major price drop from the $60 it is now.

Not worth the money!

Reminded me of a mix of FLCL & Fairy Tail with a mix of Media blasters!
-The show has extreme strange pervy aspect ! (Ok for some people)
- LOTs of random things that make zero sense just like FLCL.
-Heavily reminds me of Fairy Tail with the power struggle making no sense. Its very hard to explain this! Characters are over inflated with how strong they actually are and in mere min the buildup of super strong foe gets deflated by a pin! Fight scenes felt like letdowns one after another!
Show is definitely NO Fate Series! Characters interesting, but at same time, no bang (Like tissues never get used)! Story line was average, but moved random and fast paced! Artwork was interesting, but felt repetitive like Movie PHONE BOOTH!
Bought the set 40% off at the Xmas sale. Hate the cases and BD disk. Tired of getting up every 4 ep to put another disk in(I HATE 4 EP PER DISK). Hate individual cases, takes up way to much room(CANT JUSTIFY IT, TO ROD, FATE , DURARA!, ETC).

Best value for your money

I'm huge Kill la Kill fan, so when buying the show on Blu-Ray I had to get at least one LE. This one is great. It comes with the Blu-Ray, DVD, Remix soundtrack CD, a double sided poster, and postcards. That's a pretty great deal.

I love the packaging, it's pretty unique from the standard version. The remix soundtrack is really cool, though I would have preferred the original soundtrack.
For the absurd price that Aniplex is charging for these discs, you're better off buying the LE for just $10-20 more than the standard price, because at least with the LE you get your money's worth. All the standard BR comes with is the disc.

I highly recommend the LE, so if you're on the fence about spending a little extra on a show that's already bonkers expensive, JUST DO IT. Looking back, I would have bought one or two more LEs to make myself feel like I spent my money better.

A great release!

I know that the price is a bit steep as you would expect from an Aniplex release but I have to say this is a really nice set. I say if you're a fan of the show than save up and pick them up if you can.

A Great Anime

Its crazy flashy and pretty awesome. Made by trigger (a company split from Gainax) and by the same creators as gurren lagann its a great anime. The composition and character designs are great compared to a lot of anime we have nowadays. A blast to watch especially the characters id highly recommend watching this if you love crazy and exaggerated things. A pretty expensive purchase but well worth it for one of my favorites.

The set comes with a small piece of the soundtrack, art postcards, the dvd and bluray. The box is a little flimsy but keeps together well. Dubs arent bad but definitely prefer the subs on this one. And no complaints on the Dvd or Blu ray (has a pretty cool menu ). This set contains 4 episode. :)

More then meets the eye...

by -

When I first heard of the anime and saw the trailer I thought it is only mainly fanservice with no real story plot at all but when I saw the eps in the boxset I really enjoyed the series and I plan to watch the rest of it to see how it ends.

Totally Worth It

by -

If you are a fan of Kill La Kill, this is a great Bluray/DVD box set of the first 5 episodes. I also really enjoy adding spanish subtitles for my family to enjoy as well as the other bonus features and extra CD of songs/soundtracks from the show. Check it out for yourself.

Wanted to give it 5 stars

by -

Let me start off by saying that the only reason this isn't 5 stars is because of Aniplex charging an arm and a leg for 4 episodes (not surprising). That being said, I REALLY enjoy this show... My friends and coworkers enjoy this show. It truly is an amazing and entertaining show with amazing quality art and animation. The limited edition box is beautiful and a welcome addition to the collection.

Overall, I highly recommend this show and the limited edition to those who collect, love beautiful boxed LE's, or just love the show already, especially if you can get it for a decent price (I'd say $60 is still worth the purchase for those who have to have it).

Great collection

Kill La Kill is perhaps the greatest anime ever made. While this collection may only have the first 4 episodes, its worth the price alone for the blu rays, soundtrack and art that comes with it. a must have
