The small, charming details in the characters make this manga. It's familiar, but fresh.

Volume 2 is a surprisingly quick read! Hakka's confrontation with her family to explain her situation that her brother walked in on just feels uncomfortably real; the family has good intentions, but bad communication that makes the discussion feel like everyone is just coming down at Hakka with no way out. The jokes aren't many, but they can be pretty funny and unexpected. The joke about Hakka singing to her new friend especially cracked me up! The volume ends with Our villain Lavender making a bet with the heroes, which makes the next volume hard to predict. Even though Nobara's outward appearance makes her look like a snob, she's actually pretty considerate and easy to like; she gives Hakka all the dating advice she needs to pull of her fake date, even though she's never dated either and is just consulting secondhand sources. It's small details like that throughout the manga that make the characters so charming and vivid, to the point where I didn't know what to expect next volume.
