Kiddy Grade has the charm of earlier Anime

by

Kiddy Grade was run on Japanese television in 2002 and the faces of the characters are drawn to current Anime conventions. Although it is fairly recent in time and execution, Kiddy Grade has the charm of earlier Anime.

The structure of the series is unusual. Episodes 1 through 9 are nine single episode stories. Episode 10 is devoted to Eclair pondering her past and future. Episodes 11 through 19 and 20 through 24 are two multiple episode stories. Although the structure of the series is unusual, Kiddy Grade is entertaining.

Éclair is the lead character. She is enthusiastic and reckless and can't turn her back on a good fight. She could have starred in the Ikki Tousen series. Her battle cry is 'Ta-deah!' Éclair's battle cry is an example of Kiddy Grade's charm.

Éclair's partner is Lumiere. Lumiere is more sedate than Éclair. Lumiere constantly advises Éclair to be more elegant. I think that a better translation of the Japanese is that Lumiere is advising Éclair to be more feminine.

If you like earlier Anime, Kiddy Grade is worth your attention. The Rightstuf price of $29.99 is also very attractive.

Kiddy Grade was continued in the series Kiddy Girl-And, which hasn't been released in the United States. That is unfortunate because Kiddy is an entertaining series.

It was a fun watch, The first 10 episodes were episodic which I enjoyed and even when it got a bit more series in the later half of the show. I don't regret purchasing it, So if you like sci-fi, action, comedy, and some ecchi you'll most likely enjoy this anime as well.
