A relationship is like a garden. It's hard, really hard, to plant the initial seeds. Because you have to keep nurturing this wonderful new feeling to keep it growing. Not just in your own heart, but in hers. And since even the most beautiful rose can cut you to the bone with its thorns, who can you talk to for advice? Especially when you're both girls in high school? For shy Yamada and boyish Kase, time is running out. High school is coming to an end and they must make a choice: stay together and let their love grow, or separate and let it die.

Heartfelt and Beautiful Romance
by Levi -
This 60-minute OVA is a goldmine for any fans of good anime romance. For a yuri, this anime is surprisingly wholesome. The characters are well developed in the short time they're given, and the chemistry between the two leads is astoundingly cute.
The animation is high quality as well, including a lot of tiny movements to give characters extra personality. The music punctuates each scene with beautiful piano and/or strings.
I was excited for the new dub that's included here, and it exceeded my expectations! It was so good. The two lead performances felt so grounded and emotionally rich. The dub heavily enhanced the story/characters for me.
Overall this is a fantastic movie/OVA. Highly recommended.
A Touching Light-Hearted Romance
by Andrew -
While this hour-long OVA was fairly light on plot, the characters of the films two leads and their relationship was handled extremely well. One thing I liked was that they just dove straight into their dating life and skipped over the whole, "We can't be a couple! We're both girls!" hangup that so many of stories like this start out with.
The animation was expertly done, as was the dub. I also particularly liked the OVA's ending theme.
Having not previously read the original manga version of this OVA, watching it made me want to finally give the manga a try. I'll also say that this is one movie that I'll definitely watch again in the future, and is a great addition to the anime collection of any fan of the yuri genre.
Poor Adaptation Unfortunately
by Kyle
As someone who read the manga released thus far and is one of my most favorite series I have read, this is incredibly disappointing. Them trying to adapt the first three volumes into a 60 minute film made it a complete mess. Important moments/relationship developments were either cut or a few-second series of flashbacks. I ended up getting pacing whiplash at how fast everything was going. Since this is subtitled "Morning Glories", which is the name of the first volume, I figured it was an adaptation of that. If each volume got it's own 60 minute film, that would be fantastic. People who read the manga, I would not suggest watching. People who didn't, I would point you towards Bloom into You or Mysteria Friends for a better experience.
Good stuff
by Laurel
Asagao to Kase-san is the most accurate depiction of a lesbian couple I have ever seen. Being a lesbian myself, this OVA made me so extremely happy and I really recommend it to other lesbians and bi or questioning women.
Although I love this movie, there is little story until towards the end, which is why I gave it a lower rating. The art and music is absolutely amazing. I fell in love with both the main characters, Yamada and Kase. Every moment of them interacting with each other just gave me such a great feeling.
Definite Yuri Recommendation
by Daniel
This hour long feature has your basic of basics of yuri stories, nothing to write home about, but I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. Maybe it’s cause I haven’t seen much yuris, but this one just struck me out. The characters and their interactions with each other are what make this one stand out. I loved their reactions and responses with how awkward and heart pounding the situations got. I got a toothache just by how sweet and cute this one was. “Fragtime” had more of a different story with light romance, this one is just a strait up yuri coming of age tale with a really nice light color palette. And the dub was really good here as well. I had no problems with it whatsoever. Recommended for fans of yuri.
Nothing you haven't seen before
by Albo
It's not actually bad, just nothing special. Basically a compilation of the highlights from any romance series' episodes: sudden kiss, alone in the bedroom, school trip, etc. There's really not much there other than Yamada acting cute or flustered. The synopsis tells more than what actually happens.
My biggest peeve was there was no real conflict. Is their relationship supposed to be a big secret? Taboo? A problem? Nothing occurs to point to such a thing. The only "drama" was a little body insecurity when it came to bath time and in the final minutes when the idea of being separated after graduation comes into play.
Overall, it has some cute moments but nothing exceptionally noteworthy.
Outstanding if you've read the manga first
by Brendon
This OVA slots rather strangely into the series, with it spanning select scenes from books 2-3, and certain story pieces fully omitted. Due to these cut pieces, but the story otherwise staying faithful, I can see someone jumping into the story with this hating it, as there's a ton of missing context.
However, if you've already read up to book 4 in the manga, this is an absolutely beautiful adaptation of some of my favorite scenes from the series. The art is gorgeous and very dreamy feeling, Yamada and Kase's movements have so much of their character in them, and the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful. Throughout the soundtrack and the animation there's plenty of quiet offbeats and moments of just being that capture the feeling of the manga perfectly. Just great.
